I'm glad to see young filmmakers find out old solutions and merging them to make something completely new and cool, NICE WORK!

Looks cool but it seems like a veeeery niche lens/setup only for specialty shots. To me this is no longer just a vintage lens with character but rather a crazy lens for a character hallucinating/dreaming for example.

Vibe adapter!!! This is so cool, kinda has similar characteristics to the deakinizer!

Currently on a mission rehousing Canon FD lenses and not your typical approach. As crazy as it sounds found 3D printing specs and with this new carbon glass material out first version came out great! Going to really stress test it before I make a video. Love keeping up with your content. I have the concave 35mm f2, I know it doesn't match perfectly but in post I've been able to get the "warmer" look to match the rest of my set pretty easily. Going to DM you on IG a video of the first housing.

That intro was giving Trap Lord! Don't mess with Spenser when you see him on the block... he just might "shoot" you!

it really feels like The Batman. i love how crazy funky it is. i’d be down to get one as an vibe alternative to a speedbooster or a wide-angle version of the tuner adapter from moment.

What adapter are you using to convert your fd to ef
@spensersakurai8 ай бұрын
No adapter. Simmod ef mounts permanently converted.

@@spensersakurai when I use those shitty ef adapters for fd I get a bloomy image. My 55 is clean, will the Simmod adapter fix this?
@spensersakurai8 ай бұрын
@@PeterDiBussoloif they have a glass element in them dont use them. if thats not the case its probably just your lens.

For a while now, I've been playing around with a cheap crappy Neewer macro/ 0.67x wide angle adapter kinda like what you did here on all my vintage lenses (mainly Nikon pre-AI glass like the 50mm f2, 35m f2.8, and the 24mm f2.8). Super cool barrel distortion effect and adds some blue chromatic aberration. And extremely stylized aesthetic and reminds of the film Poor Things with the crazy wide angles and barrel distortion, but I really like it. It's just a lot of fun to play around with seeing a 50mm, 58mm, or 35mm go wider than it's supposed to and see how the image is distorted.

Ozark producers are gonna be used when they see all they had to do was use these lenses to get the look

Definitely brings a Deaknizer vibe, which is very nice. I do wonder though, when is shallow depth of field too much for a story? Maybe for a closeup or to get a certain tone for a scene, but not for the entire film. Even in wedding/event or documentary content, filmmakers don't use a Lensbaby or Tilt shift for the whole piece. This would make for be an awesome key moment in a story.

Would've been interesting to see these compared with the Sigma Art lenses on the k35 lens tuner. I remember in the camcorder days I would lust after those Century Optics and Schneider lens adapters from the printed B&H catalogs.

Woah, somehow this looks 98% similar to my Nikkor AI-S 35mm f1.4 on my BMPCC6K with LucAdapter, making it f1.2. The bokeh is practically the same from middle to edge. Nice.

Oh, it is easy to make lens that never existed before. For example we have telephoto lens 120mm, 200mm, 240mm, etc. Just make a lens fixed at 237 mm. Do we have analog? No!

You know the EF 35mm 1.4 USM is the same design as the K35? Canon had the design for like twenty years before doing anything with it in the stills world. Also so annoying that the 18mm K35 doesn't cover full frame.
@spensersakurai8 ай бұрын
Yeah my understanding is that a lot of L glass is derived from the old stuff but from my experience they simply don’t look the same as the older lenses but I don’t have a k35 set to directly compare..
@Sam_filmgeek8 ай бұрын
@@spensersakurai Yeah from what I've read in the Cine Lens Manual the 35mm f1.4 EF L is a slightly updated design. Though I would say it's a closer match to the Aspherical, over corrected look that canon lenses have. The housing of EF glass leaves a lot to be desired (I'm more into pre FD lenses). For your experiment it might also be interesting to use the 24mm with a telephoto attachment to get different results. Maybe closer match to the k35 35mm as the lens design of the 24mm 1.4 is closer to the 35mm 1.4. (I really enjoy your videos)
