every time you do anything in sm I am reminded that you know basically nothing about the game, yet you are still trying to do something pretty complicated. A few things you should know: any part that changes in size / moves (pistons, suspension, bearings) does not have collision, any floating object (or any object that is connected to a moving part) will cause lag, so while a marble machine is a nice idea in theory, it will be way too laggy to do for real (at any useable scale). A quick and easy optimization: set the entire block of each fish stair to one piston, that way there is only one object and one piston per step and the machine will be so much less laggy (I know it isnt really laggy in the video, but it will be much more laggy if you try to expand it) For the programing, you should have it "belt fed" (you have one large block with the notes programed into it that would be rolled along with wheels)

If you build your marble machine in the challenge creator, you'll have access to a device that spawns perfectly round balls when triggered. No need to place pieces and delete the block they're on. You can also download a mod to gain access to the challenge mode parts in creative, but you won't be able to dump them off the edge to delete them.

10:46 What you could've done here instead was cut off the sides of the sensor bar, build the poles higher, then weld the end of the sensor bar back onto the higher poles. It's a pretty necessary trick if you're spending any amount of time in Scrap Mechanic making stuff like this. You can "copy paste" things by saving them using the Lift and then placing an empty Lift and loading the saved creation. This can be repeated as many times as you want, and you can just weld them on.
@twinfinitely36273 жыл бұрын
Never seen anyone do this before appreciate the work

You can use high-friction blocks to slow down the pipes/"marbles" and low-friction blocks as boosters, and also there are mods like The modpack and The modpack beta, and one of them adds spheres, so you can use those instead.

Cool vid, but, 1) your piston system on the color sensors should be using binary (1, 2, 4, 8) on the lengths 2) on your stair mechanism you where using to many pistons, only one is needed (even for lifting large objects) having more than necessary wastes FPS/physics 3) please don’t build your testing platforms on the ground. (It triggers most sm players) Also uploading what you make to the workshop could lead to some cool community interaction 4) there is a tool called the ‘weld tool’, this is used to ‘weld’ to creations together (when you moved the bar of sensors up you could have just detached the end points and welded it higher 5) your timer circuit could be improved by having [timer -> not -> and ->] with a switch going into the and for toggling

I noticed the fish stair has about twice as many pistons as it needed to. you clearly know that pistons can move entire assemblies at once since you use this behavior elsewhere, but seem to have forgotten this when moving the ramps. what you actually created was a piston pushing the ramp moving alongside a piston not attached to anything but the base.

little advices : for low friction (the initial ramp for example) use mesh blocks they have a very low friction. and your piston speed is way too fast for the stairs.
The Concrete blocks have more friction than the Glass blocks. I Like building These with Mobs in Minecraft. Silverfish are the best Mob for that, Just because theyre size.
