Better than the Halo tv series armor. Just watched that ending photoshoot, and DAAANG! The proportions, the paint job, and the accuracy! If I could sum up my opinions on this video in one sentence, it would be "Spot ON!". Plus, props to the cameraman. They were excellent 👍

i always wanted to have a master chief armor, since i am 6"8. Now that i am 35 y/o i´ve just seen your video. I absolutely loved it and i have the greatest respect for your accomplishment. i love to see you build it with such a passion and continuity. You did absolutely well! Keep on going, young man and you will achieve so many great things to come! PS: i now definetely know that i dont want to build an armor by myself anymore :P

@N8TEBB
@N8TEBB 3 жыл бұрын
If I ever found myself in need of a new master chief suit, I would absolutely build the one from infinite. From what I can tell it has a little more geometry than halo 3, but it's certainly less that the 4/5 suits. It's defiantly doable. There's an interesting thread on the 405th here: www.405th.com/forums/threads/halo-infinite-gen-iii-mark-vi-build.50955/ Although I wouldn't start work on a suit for a game that hasn't come out yet.

Thanks for saying so dude! Sorry for replying so late. If you're looking to create a halo costume my best advice would be to make a 405th account and get to know the community. You can always get feedback and post progress on the forums and their discord and they can be a really big help. I would for sure try to find somebody on there who has built or is currently building a similar costume so you have a good build reference. Hope your build goes well!

As someone who's completely new to this how would I go about resizing the pieces so that they fit my dimensions? Lovely video by the way helps visualise the task at hand perfectly!
@N8TEBB
@N8TEBB 2 жыл бұрын
Sizing is certainly one of the hardest things to get right! I try to imagine how much space the piece should take up on my arm if it was a rectangular prism. I'll measure how big its dimensions are and then scale the template in pepekura to match. I'll print it and cut out the template and hold it up to where its supposed to go to try to see if it's too big or too small. I'll adjusts if necessary but if not I'll start working on the foam. The nice part about foam is it's easy to change around if you're not happy with the proportions. You can stretch pieces/ cut pieces out etc if necessary. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any q's!

I used Orange for the visor. Not seep orange, not pumpkin orange, just orange. www.joann.com/jacquard-idye-natural-fabric-dye/1687136.html Also make sure it's idye poly not just idye. The colour varies depending on the thickness of the plastic and the temperature of the water, so just leave the visor in until it has the colour you're looking for. Thank you for the support!

PETG plastic can be bought from ebay. I got 0.03" thickness. The dye (iDye Poly) can be found at Jo Anne's craft store (Unfortunately only in the US stores) or on ebay but for more money and shipping. The spray chrome I found on amazon. The vacuum form box is easy enough to make yourself out of plywood an peg board. Just have to cut a whole in the bottom for a shop vac (or a regular vacuum works too).

literally any printer. I use a CR-10 because it has a large build surface. However, for this helmet, I didn't take advantage of that because I printed the helmet in smaller pieces. You could easily make it on an ender 3, which is smaller but easier on the wallet. Of course there are more printer brands other than creality, such as prusa, and ive heard people have had plenty of success with those printers as well. Though if you have never used a printer before, I would recommend doing lots of practice prints before jumping straight into a full helmet.

@@ThatWotwFan Unfortunately I am not selling anything, but if you are interested in making halo helmets lots of people are selling casts of helmets that you can paint yourself! Going price is $100-150, but if you ask me it's worth spending 10 more bucks and buying an ender 3 for $160.

So I'm very interested in the support you used for the final visor; I assume it was just the visor's supports from the printing? What infill did you use for this to ensure it didn't collapse? I have seen others use a solid 'buck' but I don't think one exists for this specific helmet model. I definitely appreciate any guidance, your build is excellent!

Thank you for leaving such a nice comment! To print the visor with support I just adjusted the setting in cura to print support if there was even the slightest overhang. I think I did 15% infill on the support.

@@N8TEBB I also see in the video that you printed the visor by itself as well as the buck, did you just lay the separate visor on top of the 'sacrificial' visor that's attached to the buck? I printed mine in much the same way, but the visor that was used to make the buck is attached too well to the supports and isn't removable. I'm a little concerned that the separate visor laid on top of another will be bigger than I want for the final vacuum formed one, but I can't quite tell if that's what you did on yours. Some shots it looks like the visor that was used for the buck was able to be removed, giving you a nice recess for the finished, sanded visor piece.

@@KillingIsBadong What I did was print a visor laying on its back so I could get all of the support material. I printed it quick and with a large layer height. Then I tossed that visor, but kept the support. I then printed a new visor on its side to the layer lines were perpendicular to the face of the visor. This was printed slower and with a smaller layer height, and was the visor that I used as the buck. I simply placed the new visor on top of the old support material.

@@N8TEBB well to add to this I just checked the fit of the forearm and i made it too small, literally 5 minutes ago so I’ve learned from this one what to improve and I’ll be doing that, it’s always nice when I mess up the scale because it’s kind of a check for me to make sure the rest is scaled right And yes I’m on the 405th, I’ve been building since 2015 but only joined 405th last year and got all my reach templates from that plus a couple more for the extra parts
