Tiny version of things are way better than regular sized things so I when Kim invited me to be apart of the zine-o-matic group show, I had to make a miniature zine! AM TO PM is a zine about the changing palettes of day and night! I hope you like it, and if you've been thinking about making your own zine, this is a super-easy way to do it! These little zines are so lovely! My Mum taught me that technique of making little books when I was younger and I made tonnes of them. I'd make them for each of my stuffed animals illustrating their life, including their likes and dislikes and which other toys they were friends with. So fun!

A really crappy Epson. Just make sure you find one that scans at at least 1200 DPI :)

Also make sure with your current printer that you're scanner settings are set about 300 DPI at least

You can do it! When I felt really burnt out, I took time to breathe and get away from my work. Definitely recommend doing that - go watch movies, see nature, go to galleries - things that make you feel inspired

I've been making this little zines with my kids for years. I loooove this style! Quick question though, what is the model number of your printer/scanner? It prints amazingly! Also, what paper stock are you using? When I get prints done i usually stick with 80lbs or heavier (lz80..etc). The color correctness of the watercolour prints from your home printer is just great in the video.

I do the EXACT thing with my camera lens with my ipad. Use to with my laptop, but I have a custom computer now. So just the iPad, these days. Got a chuckle out of me. Aside from that -- your little zine is super dope. Years ago, I made a joke about making a small little book called the "Tiny Book of Silly Willies" and it would just little cartoon dicks. LOL - Why, because -- it sounded mostly stupid, but funny -- Still might do it!

Nope, but we went to another local commercial printer - nothing artsy. The paper is envirocare matte but the printed sections are kinda shiny - it's a nice contrast! And omg it's the BEST part! Imagining something and then making it a reality 😍😍😍😍

We just went with a commercial printer, try looking for a local printer that does office type prints because zines don't need expensive printing. I would recommend getting tests done so you can see the quality! (I don't know what printer the company uses)

How do you convert your colours so nicely to a CMYK space on InDesign? They turned out beautiful!

I photoshoped them first! I find it's a lot easier to work with that kind of thing there :)

I'm not the best at InDesign, I only use it to arrange things for print. There's probably already tutorials on KZbin- and I know Adobe has tutorials on their channel! Let me know what you find !

How did you make a fixed template size to cut off the excess paper in InDesign? I scanned my artwork for a zine before and the scanner wasn't at a fixed size for some reason and the zine came out all wonky.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean, but basically I just saved the design as an A6 PDF and the place I got it printed handled everything else, including trimming etc.

I LOVE making mini books. Back in college I fell in love with bookbinding, and because I'm frugal but also because tiny is cuter, I always made the itty-bittiest books possible. Even gave one to my teacher and she had it framed! Such an honor for my little heart. Now I still love bookbinding and actually, the only skillshare course I've published so far has been on bookbinding. =>.
