Very nice! I love the monotone neutrals of your project!

Thanks Lorraine! I wanted to do something simple to highlight the texture you can get with this method, which would have been lost with too much colour, but then I loved the result!

I think it’s important to give options… not everyone has access to the same materials or the same discretionary funds! I’d hate for them to not craft for lack of either!

The toilet paper hack with the moulds is a fabulous idea. Great way to spend an afternoon making up a stash of toilet paper moulds. Thanks for sharing.

They really are surprisingly durable also... I use a dragonfly mold from toilet paper on my mixed media wall hanging video - along with some of the textured paper - but the dragonfly is just sewn onto the top... hovering in space. It's quite a delicate mold in clay but really quite strong even on its own.

It's a great little technique, both for making interesting backgrounds (inexpensively!) but also for creating lightweight moulded elements - perfect for card making, scrapbooking, junk journals...

I had to watch it again, If you place the door up an inch or two away from the lowest part of frame and then apply the smaller items at different spots lower it will give a sense of depth. If possible have some layered on top of the door. I'm looking through my printed napkins to find small subjects, (birds, flowers) that could go into the mould first to add color to the scene. I'm going to experiment making dimensional Greeting cards made onto stronger watercolor paper or smaller framed "pictures" with this technique. Thank you! Retired, watercolor painter, keeping busy creating for extra income and fun 😊. Debra L Pate Art

Debra, your comment about paper napkins made me think the two layers without the printed pattern would be ideal to use in place of the toilet paper. I think they are thin enough. Thanks for sharing your idea.

The toilet paper idea is a keeper! I think this is a great way to embellish things like gift tags, cards, journals, when you don't want the extra weight from a clay or resin.

What a great teaching video! The toilet paper as a medium was something I was familiar with from selling stamps years ago but you showed me some new ideas and I’m sure exposed many to this method. Thinner tp is usually better (the cheap stuff-lol).

Oh Cindy I Love this project. Very Nicely Done. I like the look with the dust as opposed to the dark wax Would love to see a video with the toilet paper on the stamps. Could you use water colors on the moulds? Any special sealing? TYFS your Incredible talent with us (Pauline S)
@QueenBeeCreations Жыл бұрын
Pauline... I had fun with the toilet paper and definitely have some more ideas so... stay tuned. That said though I think you could definitely add water colours to the moulds. I painted over the dried toilet paper backing and then sealed with wax and it it fine. It definitely dries firm so there would be no issue with sealing with a poly of your choice either. They are a great lightweight choice for projects that wouldn't hold up well to a heavier clay or even resin issue but certainly would wear as well as those options so shouldn't be used for projects that need to withstand use - like on furniture.

If you used a stamp would you still use glue to add to your tp?

Yes, same process to layer the toilet paper into the stamp… think of it as a shallow mould!

I'm very glad I found your channel; I learned some useful things; I've subscribed. Clay is very expensive, I think, and I love the TP hack. I believe your video would have been much more compelling and you would have many more viewers if you filmed overhead so that the entire process could be seen. Tutorial videos are much more immediate and useful that way. Not a criticism; just a wish. You can get a relatively inexpensive tripod and position it next to your work and point it down. Some hold phones also. Best wishes.
