Hi Everyone!
Today we’re going to be using the melted down remnants of burned candles. We’re going to be melting them down into a whole, brand-new candle! This is a great way to reuse and recycle used up candles. It helps reduce waste and save money. Double win!
Let’s be real, candles are expensive, so if you can get a free bonus candle every once in a while, that’s awesome.
For this project I’m using non scented, candle remnants of all the same color, but it’s really great to use scented candles, or colorful candles.
If you melt all the wax of colorful candles together the color will be a single faded mix of all of them. Or you can melt similar scents and colors together and pour them into the jar in separate layers. This is going to allow you to have defined color and scent layers. This is the method I suggest for color layers
Hope you guys enjoy this hack. If you want to see the videos I mentioned or check out a candle making kit, an option for that and the video links are below.

If you want color, I think most crayons are just wax and melt easy. I used to make art with melted crayons, but was just making drops one crayon at a time with a hand lighter. But I haven't researched this, so maybe google it before doing in case certain crayons wouldn't work. But I'd imagine they'd blend into plain wax to make good colors decently easy. and off brand or dollar store crayon packs are pretty cheap.

Could also maybe only melt one or two of the used wax rings. then when its liquid you could do a layer of hot wax at the bottom, then put the hard rings (or chunks) of wax in, layering it with Hot wax to bond it all and prevent air pockets. I'd jostle the candle jar after adding the liquid wax so it settles in any crevices.

So the 'new' candles that you made from the old partly used ones... if this new candle in a jar, 'tunnels, where eventually you can't use it anymore either...can you re melt it, a 2nd time...and repeat the process to make another 3rd candle?

A couple of questions: How did you get the square glass container out of the hot water when the glass was also hot? And do you have to be careful choosing what kind of glass container to melt the wax in so the glass doesn't shatter? Same for the jar you pour the wax into that becomes the candle jar.

For removing the hot glass container: tongs, or an oven mitt are helpful. For the glass container I poured into, I used a old candle jar I'd cleaned out. The wax is hot but not boiling. As long as the glass isn't super cold to start with, you shouldn't have an issue. If you're super worried about it, you can put the container in a bowl of warm water to start with. Don't get water on the inside, but the water will warm the glass so even pouring hot wax into it won't be a problem.

I would of broke the old wax pieces into smaller pieces so they can all fit in the square container & then I would of put the container in the pan first & then add the water. Nevertheless this was very helpful thank you.

Why did you put round candle pieces in a square container? Isn't that backwards? I thought you were supposed to put square pieces in round holes. Now I am confused.

Doing that u don’t get sinkholes? I tractor Dothraki with any many Pilar candles I have left and it doesn’t work theycame up all with sinkholes. Even heating up the wax in boiling water ate 185 and then let the wax cool to 145/140F.

You can just top them off. I try to factor that in and only pour to an inch of the top, and then when they're almost cool, go back in and top them off.

First of all, I'm concerned that you're going to be horribly burned. Amazon sells large metal pitchers with heat proof handles and they're NOT expensive. This makes wax melting and pouring SAFER. Amazon also sells wicks ... no need to buy candle making kits which are usually overpriced. You also need to use a larger pan. Break up the used wax into small pieces which helps with melting. BE SAFE !!!

I was doing the "water bath" method for a couple of years and I just used canning jar tongs to get the jar out of the water. I did use round jars though. 😆 Last Christmas I bought myself a candle making kit on Amazon when they had it on a lightening deal and it came with it's own little hot plate! I love it! I even just ordered a new bigger melting pot with a better handle ($10). I go through a lot of seven day candles, so I'll be making those as soon as I get my new wax supply since I've used up all my recycled wax. Cleaning the recycled seven day candle jar is the hardest part. Oh, you can also buy a ball of pre waxed wick that comes with the metal tabs so you can make whatever size you want. 👍🏻 Have a Wonderful day and a Better tomorrow!

Why can’t you just put all those old candles straight into a old pan and warm it through on a mild heat ?
@StarsetMoonfire
@StarsetMoonfire 3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, the wax needs to be in a double boiler situation. (The container inside the pot of hot water) to protect it. Similarly to melting chocolate. I'm not the expert by any means, but I've never tried to do it straight on the heat. I can't say what happens, but I've always seen the advice and instructions to use a double boiler. And that has always worked well for me.

U can’t put the wax directly to the fire u need to melt it in boiling hot waterspout under orthodox electric pot not higher than185 and let it colori-lo 145/140 F and the u pour into your jar. This if u want to have a nice candle with no sinkhole.

Cute host, nice personality but unprofessional presentation. Dirty, damaged stove is distracting (appliance spray paint is easy to get) . A large glass measuring cup may be a better melting vessel, as it would have a handle for pouring.
