I can’t believe this is only a one man, one woman and one dog shop. Do you not have other people working for you? My father was a machinist. We like to pass the time together watching your videos. Any other similar videos we watched together my father would include a hundred comments on how they are not doing something properly. Not yours though, he’s says your videos and also workmanship are a model of excellence. I enjoy the fact that you use your head not your back in moving heavy objects around. Thank you for the tips and entertainment. Excellent videoing and editing,,,your wife has a wonderful gift. So many neat touches and techniques. Love from Canada.

Same- Used to love Abom79's videos.. I still enjoy his content, but no more big machining- It's all homegamer stuff. The guy's incredibly talented, for sure.. But I genuinely prefer Kurtis' content and NOT JUST because he isn't fucking *_obsessed_* with the piece of crap shaper
@maggs131
@maggs131 6 ай бұрын
@mashrien yea I genuinely can't figure what Adam's goals are anymore. He built a nice new shop and stocked it with a lot of nice toys but all that seems just to support his hobby and make a video twice a year. I don't think it's an advertised business to make money.
@rogerj7327
@rogerj7327 5 ай бұрын
@@maggs131I used to think that his goal was to build up a respectable business for himself. But it's become obvious that his new goal is a big payday from selling his new shop and an early retirement. Good for him I guess... But his videos were originally meant to be educational. Now his only concern seems to be whether he mentioned his latest company sponsor enough times during each video.

Really great videos, I started work in a shop similar to yours but on a much smaller scale, the firm I worked for made scales and measuring equipment, that could literally weigh the ink in a full stop on a sheet of A4 paper, but then my career changed, I went into Londons Metropolitan Police,and after 30+ years in that, went and worked for a High Court judge, but watching your videos, with the sounds of metal being machined, I can still smell the hot metal and the distinctive smell of the coolant. Bring back great memories, but I don’t think we would have got away with your safety officer in the 60s, very well done. ( love the out-takes by the way.)

WOOHOO, It must be Friday. I know what your outback folks deal with now. We are breaking temp records. It will be 46C+ here today. We are normally at 23C. Very dangerous for many of us. Friends are here as I have some AC. No silver pouring till this breaks. I have always preferred the Induction hardened bar as they can be repaired as verse to chrome as you well know. We used a fluid type buildup as it is done cold. I never tire of seeing these done. It is funny to see the toolbox drawers missing behind the lathe. There as a nice comparison to just how long the new lathe is as well. Your pup is always a happy fella, LOL and that oil can is just way too cool. A hand made beauty indeed. It is incredible to see the tooling tech now compared to 50 years ago. That 25mm drill style and ceramics weren't even thought of as carbide was just in its infancy. High speed was still commonly used when I was a pup in school. For hardened pieces lengthy grinding operations were a regular occurance. I may be old school but I sure am digging this stuff eh. Well mate, Tis another thing of beauty. I hope your having a great weekend my friends.

Nice work with the camera Karen! You get better and better with each vlog. Some of these shots today were amazing! Not everyone gets to see what we as machinist see on a daily basis. Nice work Kurtis it's always gratifying to me to watch another machinist work. Always looking forward to your next vlog.

Quite a skill you have there! I made a birdhouse out of popsicle sticks once. Put some seeds in it, hung it in a tree and a bird flew right to it. The house fell apart. The bird is fine. I don't build things anymore.

The next time you install a bushing using the liquid nitrogen, can you put a mike on the eye so we can hear how the metal sounds as it's warming up and expanding?

I have used liquid nitrogen installing bushings for landing gear on aircraft. The bushings were close to 4" diameter and they never made any noise when warming up and expanding that I was aware of
@RuneLar
@RuneLar 3 жыл бұрын
@@jerrycann6374 yeah, but when you did install them did you ever put your ear real, real close to the bushing as you installed. Like afraid your ear might get stuck to a super cold bushing close?
@jerrycann6374
@jerrycann6374 3 жыл бұрын
@@RuneLar no but it was in an enclosed room so no ear protection was needed and putting the bushing that shrunk a few thou into a room temperature housing the bushing expanded almost immediately. You had to drop the bushing is very quickly or it would bind. Bushing shrink .002 for every 1" diameter bushing
@RuneLar
@RuneLar 3 жыл бұрын
@@jerrycann6374 You know how like you can see someone in a room, and the room is very quiet, and you know they are alive but can't hear their heartbeat? If there was a microphone on their chest and played on KZbin, WE might be able to hear that heartbeat. In this example the bushing is the random person's heart.

Very impressed. Great use of brass chuck guards on the chrome rod, hence the use of the pipe to tighten it down. Not seen much. Are the jaws tough to drill and tap? Great close up camera angles, would have required a bit of gymnastics to get that close. Great vlog. Thanks.

Hey Philip thanks for watching mate! The chuck jaws are very hard on their clamping faces but can be drilled and tapped with care outside those areas. Cheers, Kurtis
