The author does like to from scratch, kzbin.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

Love the chair. I'm glad somebody else thinks the price of wood in the UK is a lot more than in America! Envious of the American builders being able to use Birch ply and other more exotic materials!! Thanks for a great film.

The problem you would face, if you planned to use it for long, is the seat not having sufficient strength. It will split parallel to the front facing, roughly in the middle. I have that problem with an older set of oak dining chairs that had not been built with the best quality materials, evidently.

This is a lovely, simple and stylish piece of plywood furniture that can be made to look super modern and expensive, I’m thinking of building this and adding some thin concrete pads for an ultra modern industrial look, won’t be very comfortable but it will look cool AF. 😎 Great video, thanks for the inspiration and ideas 💡

I really love this design, not the least because the square armrests remind me of a pair of 70s chairs at my grandparents', and are a really nice practical feature for living room use. The unpainted plywood and sharp angles look gives the design serious hipster-loft-cred, too.

That’s brilliant Kieth, well done my friend....simple in design, strongly built and no doubt very comfortable....reminds me of a school project chair I made as a 14 year old, stainless steel legs, mahogany arms, back and seating with web sprung seat and cushions, the problem I had was fitting the seat & arms part to the steel tubes, had to make a nut holding wire for the bolts through the wood, then capped with turned mahogany end caps....turned out okay and got an grade 1 in A level woodwork....off to watch the other video.....

Having watched both of the videos I must say that while I think John’s build was good, especially the way he used most of the sheet of ply, I prefer your chair. It’s a very elegant and simple design, which many people can struggle to achieve. It reminds me of some of the stuff IKEA sell, in that their products are also well designed and share the elegant simplicity of your chair. Another great video, cheers Keith.
