Oh, God. I can so relate to everything you've said. I almost got a Krome EX in April 2021, but ended up getting the new Korg i3 in the end. I still second-guess my decision weekly, but I really wanted a very light and portable instrument that was under 10 lbs and that was dead-easy to use, where it would just force me to actually play more and improve my actual keyboard playing skills. I have a computer science background and a terrible tendency to tweak and change everything to death, and simplicity is a lifesaver sometimes :). I also find hardware much more gratifying than the plugins. I love Arturia's Pigments 3 so much, but it feels like one needs to have a latest gen 8-core CPU with a 3.5 Ghz base clock to really take advantage of it.

I washed dishes for 6 months at an Italian restaurant and saved $800 to buy a used KORG M1.This was in 1988, I was 19.lol Back then, you could buy the same keyboard and sounds you heard on songs that were on the radio.I used a 8 track Tascam recorder for tracks. But what you couldn’t buy is the production skills of a producer like Teddy Riley or Babyface. And you needed to pay at least $250 an hour to book a real studio. That’s why record labels had everything on lock and why rappers with dope money, were the only ones making independent records and getting record deals.lol

I have had it for about 24 hours and already I know it will do WAY more than I need it to. So as I explore and find things out (like when a horn sound is an octave too high - how do I drop it an octave. I know how to do it on my old Ensoniq. I just have to learn how to speak Korg.) I stopped buying hardware workstation keyboards since I sequence in the DAW these days. I think rack mount hardware synths are perfect for integrating with you DAW sequencer in a hybrid hardware synth/soft synth setting. I already own the classic Fantom XR. I'm about to sell my classic 18 year old MOTIF ES6 keyboard and swap it out for the rack version to install in my Argosy console desk. I don't play keys in the church anymore so time to retire the MOTIF keyboard and narrow it down to just one midi controller.

Dope! I love my argosy halo desk, only wish I could hide wires better
@eman08283 жыл бұрын
@@BoloDaProducer Yeah the build quality of what Argosy offers is unmatched with an industrial sleek design constructed of a steel metal frame body and MDF wood built like a battle tank that will last several decades. I think that's why you see so many Argosy console desks in a lot of Mixing Rooms and Professional Control Rooms as an industry standard that's starting to replace the larger format SSL and Neve consoles since the large format analog consoles are phasing out In favor of Hybrid Mixing as analog consoles are getting smaller cut down size. It's a good thing I bought my Halo before the price spike as it's now $2K with taxes for the base model with everything going up.

Were you recording loops or using midi? Midi is way more powerful because you can go back and adjust the sounds without having to re-record 16 times to see if it works. You can just tweak Your sounds to your hearts content. Not to mention quantizing would fix up all that sloppiness :-)
