Keep watching beginner hand tool videos; you are getting there; don't stop! Cross braces on the ends and back of your bench should stabilize it so that it is more enjoyable to work on.

Hi thanks for the tip! I’m actually building a new bench as we speak as I realised (mostly due to helpful suggestions like this!) that I was wasting a lot of energy on my wobbly bench, additionally it’s quite low and uncomfortable to use, so I’m building a new one :) would love it if you stick around to see it and in case there’s any further tips you can give me :) hope you have a merry Christmas!

Hi mate - thanks for the comment. The router is actually just a scrap piece of 2 x 3 (CLS Stud) with a hole drilled at 45 degrees, you then hammer a chisel (1mm or so wider then the hole) into the drill hole and voila, a poor man's router plane! Paul Sellers has a short video (search "poor mans router plane") which is how I made mine. I'm going to be making a proper router plane out of oak soon though so please stick around and that video will be out before christmas :)
