Time to insulate sides and throw up some panels to give more wall space.

Do you think that would work in a conservatory? Definitely open to giving it a go!

Was thinking of doing it to ours, for a room tho not workshop. But next door have done it. Works fine. Suoerquilt insulation. Silver tape. Wooden battens for an air gap.

Just found your channel and really looking forward to watching the journey! As a couple others have said the only things I'd probably add are a brace and set of bits or battery operated drill and some method for sharpening your chisels and plane iron. A nice Japanese saw rasp is also a great piece of inexpensive kit that will be a workhorse!

Thanks so much for your comment, great suggestions and these are actually tools I now own! The brace and bit I love and prefer using then my drill! And the Shinto rasp is AMAZING! Thanks for commenting and welcome aboard!

Looks good Alex. Based on my experience, no matter how good you dust collection is , in a space like that, there’s always going to be dust that the air filter or shop vacs don’t get, or stuck to your clothing. That’s looks like access into your house, where the dust and shavings will inevitably want go for a look round. Any thoughts how to manage that. This is based on the discussions I have, and mine is in a separate garage. 😅. These are always well produced, and interesting.
@Greyotterstudio14 күн бұрын
You’re absolutely right Paul, that is access to my house. The only way I’ve managed to avoid dust and shavings in the house is I avoid that door, go out the conservatory doors and walk around to my front door to go inside. It’s not ideal but I can’t think of any better solution! I would I’ve a garage, I’m very jealous 😂 thanks for the kind words 🫡 hope you’re keeping well.

Not sure if they changed the price since your video but an extra piece of track is £50 plus £10 for the connectors now. Although they seem to have two different tracks so you have to get the correct one for the brushless saw.

Thanks for the heads up! Imagine if you bought the wrong one, that would be so frustrating!
@Metal_seer20 күн бұрын
Thanks for the design, and no prob. about two tools, as everyone has a saw and a drill. A company sells a metal version, but this is cheaper. BUT, cutting plywood sheets is just one of MANY things one can do with a table saw with jigs and accessories. Before I had a table saw, I was frustrated trying to cut small pieces with a hand power saw or portable jig saw, and sometimes resorted to trying the cuts on a mitre saw, risking dangerous kickbacks and possible injury. I boought an 8.25" small portable table saw (2.5" max depth of cut) on sale for $150 USD and am saving to by a 10" job site saw with stand which is sometimes on sale for $500 USD -- mainly to get a rack-and-pinion fence. It also has a 4.25" depth of cut. Anyone not aware of all the capabilities of a table saw should watch some of the many YT vids. All that said, your jig is fine for cutting down 4' x 8' sheets. CHEERS

Sounds like you got an awesome deal on that saw and stand! Thanks for the comment and sharing your experience 🫡
@jbitile824121 күн бұрын
It doesn't replace a table saw, unless you use a circular saw every day were you know how to do every cut. But for a beginner a table saw is your beard and butter. Save to buy table saw if your a beginner. Table saw is very very important for a beginner.
@Greyotterstudio16 күн бұрын
I think it depends on what you want to make. Although a table saw is super useful, ask 10 people and you’ll get 10 answers about what the most important tool is. For me my favourite power tool is actually my bandsaw - and I’ve seen lots of videos of people saying a mitre saw us the best! I guess it all comes down to what you want to build in the end.

Every time I've had my boards cut at the big box, they've been off by at least 1/4in. I just don't trust them anymore. They'll be perpendicular, but they don't care how exact, in my experience with them at least.

you can skip all that by using a mason's ruler/level and some clamps. But to be honest a tracksaw is the ultimate saw, you can use it as a circular saw or a table saw, very versatile and very precise.

@TheIdlesurferАй бұрын
@Greyotterstudio you can't be good at everything! The presentation was easy to follow, even with a bit of lost audio. I'm a bit heavy handed and I kept finding long cuts with my circular saw always got snagged or just wouldn't be totally straight. I'm knocking up a jig with fairly thin ply as I tend to work with 18mm OS board, replacing kicked in stable linings. Ply is too pricey for those expensive vandals!
