Same video but WITHOUT music: • Unintentional ASMR - M...
I'd been wanting to create a table with a breakfast/afternoon tea vibe. One that almost reminds you of a cafe or coffee shop. I then designed this one with a modern and edgy look in mind.
For the tabletop, I created a chamfer on the bottom to minimize the impression of bulkiness. It also gives a smoother transition to the table base, which contrasts the top with its stronger, sturdier, and bulkier structure. But, because the base features a decagon design, the lines leading down give it a slimmer vibe.
This table is made with White Oak and comfortably seats 6 people.

What a great job, I was very impressed by your router jig to make the chamfer on the table top, on a table I made I used a hand plane, it was not easy but having my daughter help with the built ( table was for her) it did not mater. Always a joy to see your work

Aluminum brace in contact with steel screws will cause galvanic corrosion of the aluminum, better to use nylon or plastic bushings to separate them.

@Cunderpants

what calculator did you use to find the cut and splay angles? i'm wanting to do something similar but i'm not sure how to calculate the splay angle for the taper from bottom to top
@ClarasWoodshop

I personally did this with Rhino. I know there’s a compound angle calculator online somewhere that I’ve seen people use but I don’t know exactly that website.

I couldn't tell from the can which finish you used. Looks like it might be Osmo? If so, was it clear or raw? I recently used Osmo clear matte on a white oak project and it was a bit amber for my taste. Very nice table. Cheers!
@ClarasWoodshop
@ClarasWoodshop 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anthony!! You got it right, I used Osmo 3054 Clear Satin. I also dislike that Amber tone you get from oil based finishings but I found Osmo's to have a bit less than other brands I've tried.

Where do you get thick pieces of oak like that?
@ClarasWoodshop

I got it from Houston Hardwoods in Houston, but if you live in a different state check out your local lumber yards. They always have wider selection than what you can get from big box stores😁🙌
