When I was younger, i took a jewelry making class at my local community college near Houston, TX. This course gave me some great skills and taught me about work hardening, annealing as well as other metal moving skills. Its worth it to look into it I think as you get access to a whole range of tools and good instruction. Thanks for a great video!

The brass and copper welding pins come work hardened I believe, manufacturers don't bother with annealing them because they'll be melted anyway and they don't stick into the air as easily as they do when they come out of the package. This is probably the reason they cracked on you.

Why thank you! Actually I made the music. I just found a free beat I liked online and I added all the music and vocals to it. I'm a terrible singer but I can kinda "talk" my way through a few bars. The chanting is done by me too.

There is no need for padding because the inside of the mask is a fairly substantial cloth mask that gets attached inside of it. You can see it in the beginning of the video where I am fitting it to the mannequin head.
