It's a rare thing nowadays to see someone make a blade with their own hands instead of overusing expensive powertools. Very well done, it turned out great

"overusing expensive powertools?" Its called production.... Ya know, when its your job and you sell knives... Why spend 5 times longer when there is tools that make it easier and faster?
@zcreelex
@zcreelex 5 ай бұрын
@@Codeman785 Because people like me will appreciate the craftsmanship. I'm not trying to discredit production as a concept, I'm merely stating that there are other people on this platform and others that (outside of production) do not spend the time and care on blades as was shown in this video.

Youre tripping, first of all using power tools will not necessarilly decrease quality and might actually increase it(better accuracy, like a drill press) secondly, the dude in the video is using a band saw and a power drill which negates your point😃

Do you by chance know the name of that tool?
@No-One-of-Consequence
@No-One-of-Consequence Жыл бұрын
@@lucasw7067 I wish I did. It looks like it could be a purpose-built tool for shaving steel. There are machines that use a piston to run a carbide bit back and forth across steel surfaces to true them up by carving litle strips off of the surface, moving back and forth and left to right a thousandth at a time. This could work on the same principle, without the mechanical precision, by shaving down the steel manually. But you would need a very hard edge, and shave your workpiece down before you heat treated it. It's giving me some ideas.
