This looks great, man. Those boots do, too. If you've not seen Lisa Sorrell's boots, she has some good inlay work, and charges accordingly.

Is there a reason you sew the star through theliner instead of sewing it to the pocket and then put the liner on? I guess it doesn't mater since you can't see the stitching once the pocket is on. Could you scribe the stitch line so you know where the points are?
@vickicade83802 жыл бұрын
That’s what I would do.

Could you do the trick with the presser foot and going back just a bit. like you do on the inside of the leg, but do it on the point?
@Handles-R-Lame2 жыл бұрын
With mine you press the back of the pedal once. And it back stiches once and lifts the presser foot. Idk if that is what ur referring to tho.
@Handles-R-Lame2 жыл бұрын
Actually sounds more like he just used his reverse lever which is common on all sewing machines. Its how you lock ur stitches at the start or end of the stitch. It's what you use to reverse your stitching. Then also you could use the hand wheel to put it in manually stitch by stitch.

Great video, question; If you can match up the stitch line when you sew the inner points with a reverse backstitch, can you not do the same with the outer points of the star?
@makersleathersupply12202 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, it's just difficult to Guage how far out to go without going too far.
@marshallwicks9252 жыл бұрын
To adjust for the tip of the star you should do a half Stitch like you do at the bottom point of the star I think that would work out great it would give you a point without working far out into the leather

How do you go about making the templates from that blue material? I'm assuming it's plexiglass?
@tylerjohnson38632 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it work to draw on a stitch line with wing dividers and just extend the lines out until they touch at the point with a straight edge?
@makersleathersupply12202 жыл бұрын
It probably would but I don't think that far ahead! Ha ha ha

23:55 THAT…is what drives me nuts and usually leads me to hand stitching anything that has to look nice. …just not that confident with the machine I guess but it never fails…I get to the very end of it all and flub a stitch or run out of the groove or end up with a stitch that stands out as noticeably too long or too short in order to hit the back stitch. I’m sure the answer is practice, but damn sure is frustrating to ruin a piece when it’s all but complete with one of the last few stitches

Are these acrylic star templates available?
@makersleathersupply12202 жыл бұрын
It is not something we commercially make. I normally just use posterboard and cut something out quickly, but since all my gear has the star, I sat down and made myself a quick template.

Why didn’t you stitch under the liner? Instead of showing the thread on the inside of the pocket..
@makersleathersupply12202 жыл бұрын
Makes it more firm this way... plus it's inside a pocket and will never be seen.
