Thanks! It's not that hard, just take it little by little from the beginning, have the stock squared, good marking and measure then the sawing and chiseling will be very easy :)

Thanks very much! Yes, I think looks more nice with those chamfers extended. I didn't opted to make a perfect flushed miters with the rails and the drawer front because for sure things there are not perfect, even if the top will get twisted just the bit they will not align, so I decided to extend them and make a design feature from that

If you mean on end grain, that end split, is because the fence got shortened. On long grain I got too when the grain is changing, otherwise I look always to match it but not all wood is constant. Thanks!

Very tasteful ! On my desk I did the drawers in a similar fashion but dovetails runs from bottom to top, drawer front slides down in position, can't fell if join becomes loose and the mortise are hidden as a result. Nice work as usual :-)

Thanks! I noticed that too, it seems somehow unnatural, but let's say that it will loose and fall, the plywood will hold it in place.

I really like the use of different woods. Would the use of wood rails at some point tighten the fit of the drawer? I'm still learning about these things so I don't know very much about this type of work.
@AdrianPreda
@AdrianPreda 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! If I had more walnut I would have done the entire desk from it :) Now this was mostly a prototype and something to experiment, that's why I used that cherry. Probably the rails will expand a bit, but I've let them a bit loose just for that plus when I will be fitting the top for sure there will be some movements there, twists, etc and will alter the tightness

Mesmerizing and amazingly done as always! Do you ever use sandpaper or is it straight up planes that's used? And if so, why? FYI I got my planks yesterday! They are sooo beautiful! Now I just need to figure out what to do with them, have a carpenter help me maybe or something. 🤔
@AdrianPreda
@AdrianPreda 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do use of course, mostly when I am not capable to have it smooth directly from plane, tearout etc Here that cherry was very permissive, I was able to plane it easily. Not the same with ash or others devil's woods :) Great, you can try plane it yourself, at least do the backs of the slabs.. If you think you will screw them at least they will not be visible, then take them to a workshop
@TheStabbedGaiusJuliusCaesar
@TheStabbedGaiusJuliusCaesar 4 жыл бұрын
@@AdrianPreda - Ahhh I see. 🤣 It just struck me that I didn't remember seeing you sand ever. Haha. Then i would have to buy a plane, and if I need a carpenter to work on it then I would have bought a plane for no reason other than trying it out. 🤷‍♂️

Frickin' 5£ for a plough plane... what a deal!
@AdrianPreda
@AdrianPreda 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, got it from a old, vintage store in Uk some years ago when I was in holiday. Just gave it a polish with a drill brush and changed the rails (it had some freaking plastic tubes) with 10mm bars like those used in CNC/3d printers.

Adrian Preda wtf. do they not know what they’re selling? here they go only on ebay for at least 100€. used!
@AdrianPreda
@AdrianPreda 4 жыл бұрын
Ah, not sure if it goes to 100. I remember I looked on ebay and saw them at about 25-40 euros with blades also. Mine was naked. Probably a 15euro/pounds was more suitable. But this 44C plow plane is not the great of all, it was a common sold plane in the 70-90s I believe, there are other types, dont remeber the no., better built quality. The Veritas plow plane is 150 euros :)
