lil advice when sharpening (ive only basic experiance with knives) only run the edge one direction, not back and forth and have it so the sharpening tool essentially goes from the back to the edge? so if youre pushing it away from you, blade faces and back towards you the blade faces away. this is so you dont just re-dull the blade

I just finished watching Our Flag Means Death and it's honestly amazing, I clicked on his video so fast I would love to make one of these gowns I love them I wear a fantasy nonsense one around my house or long military style great coats and frilly pirate frock coats around in the winter time so this would be so awesome to add to my collection. I also live in a hot as hell state though and this might become a winter project.

A tip from my grandma for sharpening your fabric scissors: take a pin and sort of “chew” it with your scissors a few times, it works in a pinch.

I think you should make a caplet, or maybe a cloak with a detachable caplet. I made one a couple years ago ala Game of Thrones.. I felt the same when I saw Nicole's video, but alas I need to finish my cape. Her video pushed me to finally hand-sew the buttom hole and the button on the collar, and I've cut the red trim and will iron it to make twill tape. It will be worth it, but this is the part of the project I hate, the fidly long bits like sewing 148" of twill tape to finish my cape. Great work by the way!

Wow! Found your channel just now, shortly after watching Nicole Rudolph. Serendipity. Tip for those dull scissors -- aluminum foil. Fold the foil in 4 or 6 layers and start cutting it with the scissors. Be sure to go all the way to the point. It's not a miracle fix; but, it will make your scissors last longer.

If you need some good fabric scissors, Fisker's are by far the best and fairly easy to find. Got mine from Walmart though Michael's has them too

This is an absolutely incredible tutorial. I'm going to make one of these for my partner's birthday and have been doing some research. I love the fabrics you found. 😍 I also wanted to tell you, that's actually a honing steel you're using to sharpen your scissors! Honing steels are for straightening blades, which is good bc straight blades cut better. But to make them sharper, you would have to get a knife sharpener of some kind (I like a whetstone). Anyway, I hope it's ok to info dump that, I'm sure the scissors can be salvaged! 💜

In regards to pride and prejudice, I can defs recommend the 1995 BBC series (is only 6 episodes, very easily watchable over 2-3 days) >w> the vibes are very different to the movie, and there's more humour in it as well, which I think really adds to the watching experience XD
