I'm thinking either a very embroidery-heavy dress or a very layered tulle dress that's very drapey, Paolo Sebastian sort of thing? Also it would be super fun to see you try your hand at WINGS (either those crazy bonkers giant cosplay wings or the iridescent cellophane type)

As another seamstress who likes cutting corners way too much, I feel you on being proud that you made something wearable. Sometimes when I manage to force myself to do something the right way I get frustrated, but the end result is always worth it. The dress/outfit turned out so beautiful!

Instead of cringing every time you show a thing from your previous projects you're not happy with, I think it would be a fun video idea to fix those mistakes with techniques you've learned along the way and improved in your skills in general! Also, I think it would be a way to look back on all the things you've made over the time you've been making things. Who knows, a 200k special?

10:44 a tip for turning really skinny straps inside out : make a really small cut or hole in One of the ends of the strap and thread a metal hairpin through It , you insert the open part of the hairpin inside the tube and let the close part drag the fabric . it's skinny enought to do the job of the usual safety pin even if you sacrifice a bit of lenght.
@irenei4736 Жыл бұрын
They are also more solid so it's easier for long straps and doesn't open and poke you
@villainousthoughts Жыл бұрын
I tend to favor the inside out piping trick where you have a cord running the full length of the cord with the end very securely sewn, and then wiggle it out. This also helps me keep the cord the same size as I either keep it along the edge of the sewing foot or use a zipper foot, I used to hate making straps so much
@irenei4736 Жыл бұрын
Yeah i know of It but obviusly it's a thing you have to Plan for ahead of sewing and i forget usually. im so caotic . Also bums me out to waste a lenght of thread .i also hate doing straps,but it's more because i never manage to iron them straight they always look so lumpy

Fam if you ever wanna have bulk stash of buttons check your local antique stores! I found a jar full of buttons of various sizes for like $22 and they had like 3 more jars around the store. I don't think i will have to purchase buttons again for like 5 years minimum.
@PricklyAlpaca Жыл бұрын
That's an excellent idea! I'm sick of paying like 7 dollars for a few pieces of plastic
@Betsyschugar Жыл бұрын
The only thing I don’t like about finding buttons about that is when you need like twelve of the same button bc the antique buttons I can find have a maximum of three that look even remotely similar 😅

Dear Kiera, your videos have quickly become my favorites to watch. I love the work that you do so much, I love the art, the garments, the props, the executive producer, the way your personality shines through the videos in a raw yet hilarious manner, and to top it all off I just think you are very beautiful. Your art inspires me every day to create, and when I am about to leave my butterfly hair clips at home, I remember that out there, there is a girl at the Walmart walking around in a cloak made out leaves, so I rush back and stick them right on. Thank you so much for sharing your art with the world, you have gifted me so many laughs and so much inspiration. P.S. This video was great, but man I did miss the The Last of Us review.

My favorite episode of Psych is 100 Clues. It’s classic and the appearance of Steve Valentine is top notch. Love it. Now I gotta watch it, lol. A close second is The Greatest Adventure in the History of Cable. Excellent writing, the twists and the turns never stop and it’s just so good. I’m always down for a good treasure hunt with the dash of psych humor. The dress turned out super gorgeous. Might have to look into those patterns you mentioned.

I recently made a cute little elf outfit, I usually wear kinda alternative/punk/streetwear style clothes, pretty much my whole wardrobe is black and red. But these videos… all of these fairycore, goblincore, cottagecore ALL THE CUTE THINGS… I love my elf outfit more than anything and I want to dress like an elf all the time. All because I’m obsessed with these videos. I can’t decide if I’m grateful or salty.

You did an amazing job! Just a quick tip your button hole stitch feature still works and works well even without the foot. You just have to mark the opening size and go slow. Still practice using your button hole foot, you'll slap yourself at how simple it really it is and how much we complicate it.

YESS the dress turned out so pretty!! what a vibe and it really does seem just like a really cute, wearable item, which is certainly sometimes preferred to other fantasy nonsense things because ✨practicality ✨Now I have the almost overwhelming urge to make a pretty spring dress oh no Also I don't remember many of the Psych episodes because I have bad memory but I remember this one where Shawn got shot and kidnapped and he just kept having flashbacks of when his dad was telling him how to get out of kidnapping situations :') I think at some point he was tied to a chair or something and he was just totally nonchalantly chatting with his captors

You killed it. This set looks amazing! Little loopy ties like that are the worst I'm sorry for the hour of your life you'll never get back. However I have good news. They make a tool especially for that so that you can turn it right side out quickly. If you don't want to buy one you can also DIY it. withwendy has a video where she explains the trick. I'm not gonna lie I can't remember which video it's in. Probably her strawberry dress video. She has lots of helpful sewing information in all her videos so hopefully you can find something useful. She's even made bags, which how I first found her.
