Kaymon I bought a set of Hive Butler’s for my rooftop apiary when I started 3 years ago. For my situation they are invaluable. I empty all of my honey supers in them, and lower the Hive Butler Boxes through a hatch in the roof. They work great! I also use them as you did in transferring frames and such all season long. Great product! 👍

@@kamonreynolds in this situation you could direct relise.. if she just moveing from hive to hive and doesn't stop laying. I make them like that with feed and direct relise the queens that seme mourning. It doesn't take long for them to realise they need a queen.. and they have no problem with a big laying one. If she shrinks in a cage for 12-24h than they don't like her. I'm not telling you to do it.. it works for me..

Well, I'm finally putting my Flow Super on my hive tomorrow. And I'm taking your suggestion to leave the queen excluder off for about 21 days. Hey Kamon (and Laurel!), I also just bought a hive butler from seeing the use in the video. I seem to remember that last year, you mentioned that you were trying to switch to CARNI's. So, being an experimenter also, I decided to go Carni in all my hives (5). I notice calmer genetics within them, but, they don't seem to be the prolific honey producers as the Italians. I also have many frames with capped honey in the top halves and quite a bit of nectar stored in the remainder. It seems to be taking longer for the bees to cap/dry down these frames. It is going to be the norm from now on? Thanks for your excellent guidance over the years. Jerry

Kanon. Thanks for the video. This time of year, I was wondering how successful it would be to use your 3 way mating box for splits with frames with eggs/young larvae and not a queen cell with a shake of nurse bees, pollen patty and sugar solution? Also, are you feeding pollen subsitute and sugar solution now in the dearth? Lastly, with supers off, will you be treating with oxalic vapor now? Thank you.

I not sure but i hope someone can help me here. Me and brother own two bee hives one is a split from the first (the white hive) and the first (the blue hive) when we took our first split from the blue hive and put it into the white hive unknowingly we moved the queen in the split, which was not a problem for us. Once we realized we moved the queen we kept checking the white hive for queen cells and queens it has been about a month and a half maybe more since the split we had seen many queen cells but no sign of a queen and they should have all been hatched by now. So we gave them a new frame of eggs also when we gave them the egg we saw a large of of drones but no eggs. Today I went to check the blue hive to see if they had a queen cell. I took of the medium and the top deep. Once I removed the very end frame just to check for eggs they became very aggressive and I saw mostly drones. So the questions I have are, does anyone know why the has so many drones and what should I do about the queen situation?

I just tried by first split last week and I blew it. I think. I did a walk away and only set the second deep top super on a new bottom board about 15 feet away. ... I took bad advice I guess. I am afraid to open and inspect a hive (only one trying to make second) worried I'll hurt them with my ignorance. Well, second hive the next day with small opening on restrictor most all bees went "drifted back" to the first ... I can hear bees inside the second one ... I've not seen one bee fly out and come back ... never seen any come in. ... they have pushed out some nearly full sized bees ... like no landing pad activity ... zero if not less than 5 bees ... but can hear them buzzing... The box has one feeder and I think all the rest is honey. I've never taken honey before. The box was so heavy ... I is like lifting a 50 or more pound bag of grain. So toiling over what to do. First hive active as can beee and I put a short super with foundation on that .. likely drawing now.
