I like that the pipe does draw well enough to keep the tobacco alight. good idea to use a bit of wire. It is nearly 🌷 tulip season here in Ottawa (right now, we are just in the middle of our flooding) . but a tulip would make a good design.

Well done, Si! The swan is very realistic and a wonderful idea. Good thing tobacco isn’t expensive now. It’s quite large as pipes go. My suggestion …… remember Nicolas find of a lady in a long dress bending at the waist!? What if you try a footman in a coat bending over as they used to do. Or a buttercup or a tulip or a wine glass. Maybe a cup and saucer. Anything that has that cup shape really. I try to think laterally.

Wow! That is a really ambitious piece for a beginner. You did a great job rendering the swan! I’m going to teach myself how to make clay pipes too. I want to make them by hand & also want to make my own molds. Eventually I want to experiment with glazes. There was a pipe factory near where I live on the Ohio River. The site is a ruin but I’ve been there & found some pipe fragments. I saw a wall display of the pipes in a restaurant years ago & have been intrigued ever since. I don’t smoke 🚭 either! 👍☮️🌞🇺🇸

@@Sifinds Me too! I am a graphic designer (with a degree B. Des.) and have become a fine artist over the last 25 years. I've helped renovate 2 houses and can make and do practically anything just as you yourself can do. The creative mind has no limits! I am a fosicker in the countryside of my rural Australian area and did also in the outback when I lived there a few years so have some pretty good collections of finds of my own, too, even though there is no luck in the mud for me there is luck in the fields!
@janvafa42535 жыл бұрын
Sky Everlasting - what is a fosicker?
@artistchristos5 жыл бұрын
@@janvafa4253 Sorry, I spelled it incorrectly! Fossick means to hunt for or search out something. Dictionary: fossick |ˈfɒsɪk| verb [ no obj. ] Austral./NZ informal rummage; search: he spent years fossicking through documents. • search for gold in abandoned workings. I fossick in the fields around my house in South Australia and find bits of coloured china, blue and white china, glass, marbles, glass bottle stoppers, glass bottles, broken glass, all sorts of stuff that was thrown out up to 100 years ago in rubbish dumps in these rural areas. The fields are wheat fields and get ploughed in several times a year and I go walking out my back yard into the fields and see what I can find. I have some good collections! Thanks for asking.
