I'm glad that Commander Niall is getting some love here. Everybody just whines and whines about this boss saying it's bs and unfair about the summons. But what they don't realise is that Niall himself is super passive while his summons are active so literally just kill the summons who die in like a maximum of 5 hits. They believe that it'd be a good strategy to target the heart but if you've seen these enemies before around Castle Sol you should know that they must be dealt with before striking the main target.

Totally! Is it frustrating? Yeah absolutely, when you’re learning the fight it’s ROUGH. But the adds are simple to take care of pretty quickly and then his move set when they’re down is super fun and unique!

finally a good list. I actually agree with pretty much everything here that's crazy, and good to see someone appreciating Malenia instead of just crying about her difficulty. For sure one of my new favourite bosses in all of soulsborne. Good shit brotha keep it up

Tibia mariner is cool as hell imo just something awesome about a dude smacking you with his doot horn and summoning an army of the undead. In coolness S tier. But F tier in difficulty. Scourge is an S tier in difficulty due to bullshit rng but in coolness S tier as well.

His doot horn is the only thing keeping him from an F for me. I think I just didn't have fights last long enough to enjoy the summoning more, he'd move positions or die before they ever got to me lmao. I'm excited for my next playthrough to use a wildly different build and see how I view the fights after!

Looking back on it now I agree he should be moved up. It’s sat with me and yeah it’s a free win with the weapon but at least it’s interesting. Probably still put him as a C but not an F

@@tionysus. it also depends on your build, you mentionned you have a strength build and that scales your damage by a lot. When you fight him as any build that doesn't pour into strength, suddenly your damage dips by a lot, making some of his attacks (endless flame skull rain) a lot more spectacular and dangerous. It's definatly not a free win if you don't have strength

Personally all the Tree Spirits should be at a tier lower than F. Absolute worst enemy/boss in any souls like, and I want to start a petition to get them removed because they suck so much...

I respect your opinion, but I think you're the only person on the planet who would put Rykhard in F tier haha. Easily the best gimmick boss in the series, and challenging enough without upgrading the spear. Completely agree that Malenia is the best boss in the game though.

A few people have said this so I took my time in another play through and it definitely was better When I first fought him I was wayyyy over leveled to start, but 100% serious, I thought it was a Yhorm the Giant kinda weapon and ONLY L2 worked. I didn’t even think of trying a regular attack (which alone changes the grading monumentally lmao) so that’s why I felt it was so gimmicky when he died in like 10 hits A much better fight the next time around

@@tionysus. kinda makes this video irrelevant then. The spectacle alone made this fight insane. I don't even know what you're basing the list off of. Is it just gameplay? Or does design and artwork/animations, music and arenas play a role as well?

@@justasinglesummon3912 well the problem is I didn’t really see any of the spectacle other than the cutscene L2 with an upgraded spear and I stunlocked the entire fight, so I never saw any of the attacks the first time around. The arena is the same fire cave we’ve seen before and giant serpent thing didn’t really do it for me. Much cooler when I got to actually experience the fight but on strictly my first time which is when I did this it was a nothing fight where nothing happened

@@tionysus. giant serpent thing? You're really underselling his design and it's not really just the same fire arena we've seen before. What other arena is so much alike to this one? Also the music in this fight is amazing and you just stun locking a boss is all your own fault. Idk who would think it was meant to be that way before trying normal attacks.

This entire video was based off my first experience with bosses. Things I said would change and morph but that’s how I experienced it then. You have a different opinion, that’s great man, so do I after re fighting him

WOW. I agreed with you on almost all bosses with just plus or minus one tier. BUT RYKARD? I had placed him in my top 3, S tier. It was so cinematic, and the best gimmick fight they've ever had by far. The weapon was super cool and they actually put effort into a moveset for it. Creepy and amazing design, brought up so many lore questions for me, two phases, fair attacks and hitboxes. Awesome boss arena and lead up. I was blown away personally.

Yeah after sitting on it a little longer, cinematically and being at least interesting I should have put him higher. It’s gonna be crazy looking back on these rankings after a month or so and a few more runs how it all shifts

Love the list! Personally hated the Astel fight though; I kept getting rekt by the grab 😂... arena was sick tho. My fav fight was def Maliketh. Least fav was the Gargoyles.

Thanks a lot! Yeah Astel’s pincer grab was really rough but the awe I felt that first time I saw the cosmic meteor attack made me love that fight! Also hell yeah Maliketh is so fun

Beat the game tonight with just over 56 hours on my character. Now I get to finally go and enjoy all this backlog of Elden Ring content on KZbin lmao

@@mrman-yj3bn no not really. I beat malenia, did Ranni's questline, I was around level 130 by the time I beat the game too. I just never really died like ever outside of some boss fights and even then it only took me around five attempts for those bosses. I'm just a souls veteran who is able to breeze through a lot of the game

@@paullucas7504 I have been playing since ds1 aswell, and like you only struggled with maby 4 bosses? God duo, clergy beast, BK assasin (found him early and his backstab was a 1 shot), and the final. But I'm at 140 hours and still have about 40 marker icons in my map I need to explore / kill boss.

I’m at 60 hours and just set the tree on fire so hopefully near the end. So far my favorite boss is probably Astel or Godrick and my least favorites BY FAR are the Abductor Virgin duo and the Gargoyle 2v1

The only thing I disagree with is Malenia. That was the fight I was looking for the most and I'm so torn about it. The arena, her design, the music, her lore, all of that was incredible. But the fight itself, I think it is one of the most bullshit from software has done. The fact that she heals even if you Shield makes no sense. And the 3 flurry attacks are just pure bullshit and change the whole fight if you're melee. Sure, you can dodge them if you're far away and already running. But if you're up close when she does it, you're basically dead from the first flurry. And if you shield, then she heals anyway. And that causes me spending the entire fight being afraid of approaching because of that one move. I eventually realised that I wasn't having fun and I just used mimic tear and stunlocked her to beat her. I wasn't proud about it, honestly. I beat Isshin, demon of hatred, father owl, orphan of Kos, Ludwig, Friede, Midir, O&S, Manus and I love all of them. But in her current state, Malenia is too stupid for me to actually enjoy that fight.

I can definitely understand the frustration. The visceral scream I let out finishing phase one with no shield and no soul summon woke some people in my house only for there to be a tougher phase 2 lmao. The move is insane, almost impossible to dodge, and gives her a decent amount of health back, and yet despite that, I’ve never had more fun in a single boss fight in my life. That still of “you will witness true horror” going into phase 2 is burned into my memory and the entire experience is unparalleled for me, but I totally respect how others have had that ruined by the move. Who knows, the more playthroughs I do maybe I’ll hit that wall as well

I really like so much about malenia, but after winning solo I’ve spent hours trying to help others beat her just to have the host die to that same bullshit combo nearly every time. She would still possibly be the hardest boss in the series without it, and it would make her one of the best. Just make that first flurry dodge-able and it’s top tier immediately

I disagree a bit, not that I particularly enjoy the waterfowl dance, but she wouldn't be at the top of thr difficulty list without it. It's the one move preventing players from just staggerlocking her out of existance, as you need to keep it in mind at all times to survive. Without it she'd be easier than the Sekiro inner bosses for example

Malenia is truly one of the least enjoyable bosses I've ever fought. I would rather fight Bed of Chaos. I genuinely believe she is a very easy fight, except for waterfowl dance. Complete artificial difficulty. Absolutely despise Malenia Edit: Definitely agree about Rykard btw. Love his lore, but the fight is a massive disappointment

I was enjoying this until you said radahn was a) unfair and b)unbeatable without the summons.... Even pre nerf none of that was true. His attacks are basically the same dodge patterns as a black blade kindred or gargoyle. They are very easy to dodge and even 1 v 1 he gives you tonnes of openings to attack because alot of his wild bravado is just bravado. I've 1v1d this man many times and in ng+2 the poor guy didn't even get to blast off to space before I killed his wimpy butt. Sorry but radahn is a very cool fight. But was never and will never be hard.
