Mini pottery wheels have been around for while. I don't have one, but I tried tiny pottery anyways as a part of the #throwvember2020 pottery challenge. What would you use this mug for? Espresso? This size was about the limit for throwing with hands and fingers but I've seen smaller mugs made from clay before believe it of not. Skilled mini potters use small tools for this technique that allow them to throw smaller. I could probably go smaller but I enjoyed this none the less. Making the handle was actually the fun part. Have you ever tried tiny wheel throwing?

MLS~ That’s got to be the most adorable little piece of clay I’ve ever seen😊 also, this class was so frustrating, I never really got the hang of it I suppose. Hoping everything is well with the family and online teaching Mr. Uhhhh Jim? I don’t wanna expose your last name but it was always an honor to work under you and you made me grow a lot as a person❤️

Tristan! So good to hear from the most loyal subscriber himself. Wheel throwing is frustrating. I only now feel like I have a comfortable amount of control over it. Mr. Jim. Haha. My name is on here so worries if you use it. It was a pleasure having you in class, Tristan. As crazy as you made it at time, I would do it all over again without a thought. Hope you’re well and doing great things. Keep up the drawing/artwork and keep in touch. It’s so nice to hear from you!

@@CeramicJim I love that sweet little black handle, it really sets it off! How did you decide which color for the handle? I'm desperately trying to be an 'artist'. It seems more 'n more to be one of those born with talents that I wasn't born with. Haha Nature or Nuture... can practice ever overcome a lack of natural born talent?

What you see in videos or pictures of artists’ successes is just one choice or one decision. Many other thoughts of failures go on behind the scenes. Over the last year and half I’ve made 100 pieces or so and I only decided to sell 15 of them. The other 85 were things I tried. Some things I liked. Some things I didn’t. I did a lot of that and along the way you start to figure out what you like and clever ways to achieve it. Creativity is one of the few things you get more of by using it. So whatever creativity you have a lot or a little use it and you will get more.

Hi there very beautiful n well described, I just want to ask you a question if you can reply, I have a mini wheel I want to use porcelain clay on it for throw mini pottery vases or bowls etc, I don’t have kiln I wana use it because of its smooth buttery texture to make thin neck vases and also fat bottom vases, if I use porcelain clay and make mini pottery and after its dried I paint it with acrylic or ceramic colors follow be gloss varnish will the porcelain pottery stay stable since I don’t have kiln so I won’t be able to fire it, I just wana showcase it and put on the rack for decoration ie mini porcelain pottery, plx advise if it will remain solid this way I mean porcelain pottery and I don’t mind even if it won’t be functional plx reply thanks alot

I just made a set of mini mugs, plates and bowls for my great niece (8 yrs) for Christmas. It was a challenge. I couldn’t find any videos (all were too sped up) on how to manage making these. Glad you posted this video. Would like to see how you do mini plates, bowls and teapot. I managed making a set but it took several tries and it’s a bit crude. Thanks you, again!

I think a mini teapot could be fun. Can’t imagine how to make a spout that small 😄

Making the teapot was fun and challenging. I’ve never made a teapot of any size before. I’m sure my handle and spout are not proportionately correct but I thought it came out cute just the same. I’m not so happy with my plates...they look more like coasters. The mini bowls and jugs were fun and turned out great, after some practice. I put lids and corks for the tops. I’m going to make another set of minis out of marbled clay. Thanks for the inspiration. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍽🍁

Hi Lynn Schneider Not sure if you're aware of this but KZbin allows you to adjust the speed of each video from it's "Normal" playback speed to a whopping 1.75 times faster. Or a very, very slow .25 video speed. They have this option tucked away under those 3 dots in the upper right corner of the video. Touch the dots and a sub menu will open with everything from Captions to Playback Speed. Click Playback Speed and a whole range of speeds will appear. Playing with the settings can be quite humerus especially if you're into Alvin & the Chipmunks! Hope this helps. Good luck & Happy Holidays!!! Tari
