Let me start my saying I am impressed. I do have a question, would it help to inject structural foam in the cavity of the bow. The idea would be the foam would keep the sidewalls of the bow from collapsing as the bow gets older.
@BackyardBowyer2 ай бұрын
Thank you! As for the foam, in the limited tests I've done so far, it makes the bow very hard to fix if it does collapse, they will still collapse if too stressed in one spot. PVC bows can easily be repaired if they fold. I've noticed that the foam helps the bows float in water and makes them quieter. That said, drilling into PVC makes me nervous so I avoid it. I have seen others drill holes in PVC bows without issue, so take what I say with my own experiences. Thank you for watching and for the suggestion!

i am starting to think that pvc would be perfect for comanche style bows where you would like to have the choice to push it up to 100 pounds in some ocations, by drawing it to more or less 25" instead of the normal 15-18", pvc seems to be durable enough for it, a 40" inch bow that could be strung quickly with a handfull of 25" arrows with sharp broadheads takes up no space at all, and weighs even less

More from the great man! Anyone in Australia make pvc bows? The closest thing to schedule 40 at Bunnings is Class 18 (to my awareness) others have used the orange electrical conduit. Anyone found anything else successful?

Thank you for watching! Arthur Street Objects makes gorgeous PVC bows and even teaches workshops. I believe he's near Sydney. As for what pipes work in Australia, I have heard of other makers sleeving two different sizes of PVC pipes together to make their bows. I hope you success! Thank you for watching!

In your opinion, how does artificial sinew compare to B55 or B50 as a bowstring material? Are there any advantages to using it? Thank you. I've been a fan of yours for years!
@BackyardBowyer2 ай бұрын
I find that it performs pretty much the same. The benefit for me is that artificial sinew is usually already made of multiple strands and needs less strands for a Flemish or counter twist string. For continuous strings, I suggest using Dacron bowstring material. Thank you for watching and for your question!

Hello nick, i have a question about this bow, how far can it shoot an arrow(feet), and what is the lightest arrow that u would shoot with this bow, thank you
@BackyardBowyer2 ай бұрын
Hi! I haven't tested this bow in distance. This bow would work with an arrow that's at least spined for a 70 pounds compound. I have a set of carbon arrows at 550 grains that fly well with this bow.

What is the name of the rope you use buddy 😅, sorry I didn't know 😢

I used parachute cord for the first string and artificial sinew for the second. It's a type of polyester thread. Dacron is another name for the same material. B50 and B500 are the model numbers for archery specific Dacron thread for strings.

How does this bow perform? Is it durable? Have you taken any game with these builds? 🇺🇸
@BackyardBowyer2 ай бұрын
Generally PVC bows perform the best around this length. The furniture grade makes this one durable, it would be a bowyer's challenge piece if made with plumbing pipe as everything needs to be perfect. I personally have only bowfished with these setups. Thank you for watching!
