Holly crap, what a great Idea for making a fancy handle... gluing fancy molding together! That's has so many applications and as a woodworker my mind is in overdrive thinking up ideas. And I simply have to make an over the top fly swatter too, to blow my friends minds when I hand it to them.

note to those who make this item. The cad like drawing differs from the hand sketched drawing in the area where the handle and holes to attach the swatter. The hand drawing locates the holes by their centers which is correctly drawn. The CAD looking drawing locates the holes at the upper and lower quadrants of the holes then you add the diameter of the hole and then skip 3/4....... Use the hand drawing is what Im saying.

I absolutely love this. Has anyone ever noticed how cows in the countryside are tormented by swarms of flies all the time, and thought about making a fly-swatter from cow leather to give the cow some belated payback? Now you know how! 😃

Wouldn't it have been more practical to have put the handle on TOP of the leather instead of underneath? That way the handle couldn't get in the way when you're swatting a fly. The flatter the leather against the surface the less chance of the fly getting away. The way you put them together, you'd pretty much have to swat them with the face of the leather rather than the suede side.

I wouldn't want to swat a fly with the flesh side (what you're calling the "suede side"). The finished side can be wiped off, rather than the insect guts soaking into the porous flesh side. Plus, I have the feeling that most of these aren't going to be used on flies, if you get my meaning...

@@muddymom Well if it IS used on flies, I'd rather stain the reverse than the face. As for OTHER uses, then it wouldn't BE a FLY swatter WOULD it. 😉
