Can't wait to see the bridge on it and hear the strings. That can't be too far away. Nearly finished 👍.

@@LucasFabro I know I have seen the video following it.

I think anyone who wonders why hand-crafted violins are "so expensive" should watch these videos. It's almost unbelievable how much time, effort, and craftsmanship goes into a single instrument. I do hope we get to hear this one being played!

Yes! That's why I like making these long videos, I feel like even if it's still a vert very small part of the process it still manages to demonstrate that each single step is very long and requires a lot of attention to detail!

Ciao Alessandro! Grazie mille dal commento che aiuta tantissimo al canale. Quello era semplicemente olio paglierino che aiuta a fare la finitura e a che le diverse carte scorrano meglio sull'ebano.

What was the oil you used in the fingerboard at 14 minutes?

What is used for the finishing of the neck?
@LucasFabro2 жыл бұрын
It really depends, as many people have very different taste and preference. But I like giving the neck a slight colour with something like walnut stain, or any other soft colours (sometimes even a very light layer of the same type of colour that I'm using for the varnish, but that I mostly do on modern looking instruments) and then I like applying stand linseed oil, but then again, I know people who use different stuff!

@@LucasFabro I see. Thank you for your answer. I'm making a chinrest and I'm trying to understand what choices I have. Didn't know about stand linseed oil, will look it up.
