That's a great color and sure to catch bass. The voice over was great. Oh and I still didn't see a bad camera angle even when you pointed it out. So just don't mention your mistakes and we won't know 😀

LOL, perhaps you are correct my friend! We are our own worst critics, to be sure. Silly thing... just had it too high so it looked like I was looking up the whole time! Anyway... glad you like the build and the voice over! Appreciate the feedback my friend!

Another great tie, Adam! And YES, I like the format incl the "voice over" on the jig prep. That is really helpful. BTW, how do you get such complete and even sooting on your molds? Thanks tons!!
@SDGCustomLurecraft2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rob! Glad you liked the build, and good to hear re: the voice-over! The coverage on the mold is actually "Drop Out", comes from an aerosol can, like spray paint, so it makes coating the mold super easy! Here's a link to the stuff on Amazon: amzn.to/3JXxqZZ. Little pricey for a small can, but it lasts a LONG time and man does it work well! I even coat my ladle with it - makes everything easier to work with!

@@SDGCustomLurecraft I use an old candle to get the soot on my molds works well just take time to go over it carfully.
@SDGCustomLurecraft2 жыл бұрын
@@lroyson Yup! That's another great, and popular, option!
@robs93492 жыл бұрын
@@lroyson I do the candle thing now and it's tedious and still very hard to get into the nooks and crannies of some of the molds, esp if the cavity is deep relative to its opening (e.g. Football heads, smaller Midwest Finesse).

@@SDGCustomLurecraft Thanks for link. I may have to check that out. See note below as well. I wonder if a dry graphite lubricant would work...

what is the advantage to not putting the weed guard in the mold in the head over being tied besides making it easier to tie the skirt on on ?
@SDGCustomLurecraft2 жыл бұрын
Great question Glenn! That is, for sure, the biggest advantage (not having to tie around the wire the entire time). The wire can also make it more difficult to distribute the material if it needs to spread around the bait (or in this case, around the head - that would have been a real pain!). In some instances, I may want a different weedguard than what it calls for as well, and the other option may not fit the mold (but is easily added after the fact). So, lots of pragmatic reasons, but no deal-breakers if you want to cast it into the head from the get-go! Thx again for the question!

I love the idea of jigs, I've just never had any success with them. Everything around here is very muddy, with either a fast rocky current, or a thick grass bottom. Its kinda sad I would love to make some jigs but the environment in my area results in a lot of snags for most anything on the bottom. Its not for lack of trying, lord knows I've spent time but it just doesn't last long.
@SDGCustomLurecraft Жыл бұрын
I hear ya! Your best bet is light weights and finesse cut skirts like this one… something that will slow the fall and not “dig in” once it hits the bottom. Hope you don’t give up, man they sure do catch’em!
@smalljaw2 жыл бұрын
AWESOME!!!! I got a bunch of that GP-watermelon-pearl material myself, fantastic color!! BTW, you can cast that larger wire weed guard in the wacky head, I do it all the time.
@SDGCustomLurecraft2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dan! I considered it but didn't want to tie around it the whole time, LOL. Easier for me to just add it at the end. LOVE that striped silicon line!

I too love a finesse jig made from the wacky hook. The 1/0 makes a great jig head for a stupid tube rigging of the small YUM crawbug. I’m not pouring lead. I’m clamping on split shot and or supplementing with tungsten plummet beads. It’s easy to clamp in a wire weed guard.
@SDGCustomLurecraft Жыл бұрын
Nice! It’s an unsung hero in the finesse jig world for sure! And all the more-so with a finesse cut top, goes great with the round head!

Dig it, dig it, dig it!! That GP/Wtrmln/Pearl striped silicone kills it! New head paint is awesome too and the Ned Craw trailer on those finesse jigs can’t be beat. I like using the wacky jigs for these ultra compact applications too… mine are more of an oval shape tho… think I like ur round ball better. And the voice/over works for me… prolly less editing for u too??
@SDGCustomLurecraft2 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thanks for the feedback and glad you liked it man! While I didn't touch on it, yeah, the roundhead of the weighted wacky gives you all those "roundball" benefits, even with the different hook style. Its a sweet little "hybrid" - definitely a personal fave! Glad the voice over worked as well for you. Less editing??? Eh... give and take. Can't voice over until after the sequence is edited, so there's automatically go-back. But... I think it may "flow" better than a fast-paced music montage, plus it affords me an opportunity to drop a nugget here and there (vs a dedicated "kitchen sink" video) that may be helpful. Hey... if nothing else, something fun to play around with! Debo started making some airbrush voice-overs as well, they seem to be well-received. Hmmm.... perhaps a light music voice-over Zip tie sometime...??... that could be interesting!
