A gorgeous exquisite handcraft, is not always by the grade of materials, but by thought and work.

When I was a child living in a small Colorado mountain town, my Mom worked for Mountain Bell. When the linemen would work in the office on the switches, they would leave copper wire snippings on the floor which I loved to turn in to jewelry. A bit more rudimentary than this though. Ha.
@2nd6monthsАй бұрын
Not sure how many folks remember "Ma" Bell, but my father was one of those techs. I always had plenty of cable, wire and so many other interesting things to keep my imagination and ingenuity occupied. I think my Dad really knew a thing or two about raising children properly.

very well shown. if i can ask how do you tell when the brass needs to be heated to soften enough again and did you use polishing paste with the wheels . i hope to recreate that as when watching again the weave is easy to follow 10/10
@nedjewelryworkshopАй бұрын
When the metal hardens, annealing is done to soften it. The polish I use is jeweler's polishing polish.
Just paint the inside with clear nail polish to prevent green finger

@shadowequinox083413 күн бұрын
So with it being a more aesthetic piece like copper, it may be worth the sacrifice to either nickle, gold, or silver plate it. I think the goal is to avoid alot of moisture. If you get an answer let me know.

It’s called annealing - heating the copper with a torch and slow cooling softens the copper. The process can be repeated. This allows the material to be worked more easily. He then quenches the ring to harden it.
