It’s amazing that something as flat as a piece of fabric and a piece of steel can make something so so curvy. Wizardry to be sure

Right? 🤯 Although, I will say, a LOT of that is just that the curves are already there. I'm hourglass-shaped and very squishy in the middle 🤣

Next time, switch the zipper foot so the needle goes through the left opening and food does not go over the busk but rather right next to it. Make sense? The corset looks great. I love the color.

Thank you! Pretty sure that foot doesn't have two sides, but I'll check it when I get home. I think my invisible zipper foot does. Thanks!

I love what you say about our historical garments also matching our personalities! Almost all my clothes are some kind of hybrid history bounding clothes. I'm 6 feet tall with red hair, so never was invisible! Since I was a costume designer as my first career, I just decided to dress how I wanted no matter what time ti was from. So 50 years of weirdness! Yay! Now that I'm an old lady, I can just be a Tasha Tudor clone. :D Do you live in Galveston? Corpus Christi? Looks like the good ol' Gulf. My cousins are all from Beaumont.

Hah! That's awesome! 🤣 I'm in Central Texas. That's definitely not the Gulf Coast, it's Florida, and the real ocean. Not that I'm biased or anything...😁

Yeah, it definitely is motivating, hah! Originally, I was supposed to go to an Edwardian party the day before I flew home, and that was kind of what was fueling my panic. Luckily it got cancelled 🤐

Grommet press is fabulous time saver. And not really that expensive if you count your time savings

Oh, I understand. I'd like one. This project in particular was a bear. But I have not been able to find one in my price range that does 00 grommets.

seriously well done for doing this in a week. you must of been really powering through it, with a full time job etc. switching you foot/ needle position will help when knobs get caught in your foot. 😂😂 hope you enjoyed your holiday! you definitely need it now!

Yeah, that was a very harrowing week for me 😪 but it was nice not have to worry about it while I was off, and just to take a break in general! I really had a good time. It was pretty low key, just with my folks and the dog, but it was still a lot of fun!
@dancooper-jones
@dancooper-jones Жыл бұрын
@@FantasticalFolliesCostuming doesn't matter if its low key, or who you go with. At least you got a break, and had some time to just decompress a little.

It's magnificent! Unlike those Port A beaches. 😂 I love your style and hope we'll run into each other one of these days -- I have a feeling we have overlapping social circles somewhere. 😊

Thank you! Yeah, I've heard Texas beaches are pretty underwhelming. I've never actually been, lol! I'm an East Coast gal 🤷‍♀️ one gets spoiled. We probably do! If you ever run into me, say hi!

Amazing job! I think this would have been easier with a different pattern. The laughing moon pattern is notoriously un-curvy, and you had a ton of changes for your figure. Way to go making it fit! 😁

Thank you! Wish I'd known that about the pattern before I started 🤣 but it's all good. Do you have an alternative pattern recommendation if I ever decide to try another?

I've loved watching your journey to getting a great fit but I was so looking forward to learning more about how you got your lacing gap to be straight, particularly after all your toiles and tribulations in the fit adjustment video. What were the final adjustments you made to make it straight?
@FantasticalFolliesCostuming
@FantasticalFolliesCostuming Жыл бұрын
A lot of it boiled down to just making all the fitting adjustments. Also, using steel bones instead of the zip ties, and placing smaller (00 instead of 0) grommets 3/4" apart instead of 1" apart. The smaller size of the grommets and spacing means that the pressure is distributed over more space, ie, more evenly. And there was one bit I did have to cut for time, and that was I changed the way I laced them! Originally, I was using one long lace, top to bottom. But the way that works, it was staying small up top and I had difficulties distributing the width downward. So I tried the bunny ears thing, but the laces kept getting tangled and I lost my temper 🤣 so I grabbed two shorter laces. The first is laced top down to the waist. The second is laced bottom up to the waist. That way, all the tension from pulling gets concentrated where the gap wants to be widest--my waist--so I can control the gap. Hope that helps 😊 let me know if you have questions, and thank you for watching!!
