On this week's show, I attempt to make my version of a popular building block mini-figure from scrap wood. The project required a little lathe work to complete the head but everything else was cut on the scroll saw. I hope you enjoy this week's show.

@@acutabove_woodworkings BTW, I bought an Incra t-rule after seeing you use it. I bought the metric version, because I come from a land downunder. It's an absolute joy to use, I can highly recommend it.

@@wiseoldfool Glad to hear it. I have used these things for years and I am very confident in recommending them as they are just fantastic. A little on the pricey side but in my opinion, worth every penny for the way that they perform. I'm glad you enjoy it.

Hi Kenny, now you know why it was so expensive to buy, if you took those 14 hours that you spent and divided it into the cost you would probably be working at below the minimum wage. However, the enjoyment you got from making this is priceless.

Also thinking that a company produced figure would be using CNC to mill the parts. Still labor intensive in any case.

Within that 14 hours was a lot of measuring, design and problem solving as far as how to make the pieces John. Either way, it was time well spent. Now that all the figuring was done and the processes perfected, I'm sure I could easily whip one off in 13.9 hours. LOL. Thanks for tuning in to the show and taking the time to leave your comment. It's appreciated.

They would definitely have an automated process for sure Dwight. Wouldn't be nearly as cost effective without it.

This is excellent! The dimensions are perfect 👍🏾 I think yours is better than the branded one as yours has wooden hands. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video from London, UK 🇬🇧

The work is very beautiful and encouraging, but unfortunately the dimensions are in the British system and not in the metric system, so we could not know the dimensions correctly.

What I like about your shows is you don't edit out your mistakes.. you correct them and that keeps it human.. thank you
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 3 жыл бұрын
I try my best to show the mistakes because after all, everyone makes them. I'm not a fan of shows the depict their woodworking as a perfect venture every time. That's nonsense and it couldn't be more phoney. I'd rather show the mistakes and give a realistic representation of the hobby so that beginners can realized that making mistakes is all part of the learning process. Thanks for the kind words on the show and for tuning in. It is truly appreciated.

You know Kenny, I thought for sure, while watching intently, you would have used a single dowel to attach the waist piece to the upper body. Result being able to twist at the waist. A bit of complexity to keep the legs on while being played with I agree. But then again you are the master of complexity.
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings 3 жыл бұрын
The original plan was to do that Dwight and have the dowel attach the legs. That was of course, until I realized how thin the waist section had to be in order to keep it proportionate to the original. There just wasn't enough material to glue in the dowel so a design change was necessary. Besides, the real ones don't rotate at the waist. Thanks for tuning in to the show this week.
