Without many of the tools many would consider essential (a wood saw for example), you have managed to create a scabbard fitting of that gorgeous hanger (love the engraving/etching). You sir, are a true craftsman and I salute you.

Making my first wooden knife sheath with only hand tools. It's going slow but coming along nicely. Nice work!

while searching for a scabbard maker for 2 hangers recently aquired for my collection, I found this video... may attempt to make my own after watching this... my 2 swords, one is an 18th century original dutch or german hanger, the other i a high quality Old Dominion Forge repro of an American hanger... excellent work sir...

Aww, I was really hoping that the crescendo of Ode To Joy would cut loose to reveal the finished product since it was playing through most of the video. Ah well, Drunken Sailor works too.

I kept waiting for this dude to make a slip with the chisel and break the serene mood by yelling, "Fuck!" If i were making the video, you'd see that for sure. You'd also see the throat not fitting on after Having riveted it, and me swearing, then bending the hell out of it and also gouging the wood while trying to hammer it on, and swearing, then making a new throat and gluing it on backwards, and swearing.

By going off of your video, I made me a nice one for Jon Snow's Longclaw. With the sword, this bitch is heavy. I just need/want to stain it and put a little bit of leather and metal on it. Very fun project.
@mrdabeetle16 жыл бұрын
Since the wood is kinda crappy with loose fibers, crimp the chappe and collar using a dull nail. Just put a line of dots near the edge of the metal. It will grip the wood more and make the glue last longer as the humidity changes over time.

Could someone tell me the name of the song at the end?
@randomamerican4713 жыл бұрын
It's an old sea shanty called "Drunken Sailor". The song describes things that might be done to a drunken sailor. When the rum has kept him from his duties onboard. kzbin.info?search_query=drunken+sailor

Nicely done, but i need to ask, is that a homemade flintlock in the video picture? If it is, will you upload the video about how to do it?
@TRCustomKnives7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. No it's not a homemade flintlock. It's one of those decorative replicas.
@stevenjohnson22737 жыл бұрын
Kerem Bilgen unless you are really into building muzzle loaders that would be some very boring and repetitive video.
@kerembilgen9237 жыл бұрын
thanks for advice, i want to build a flintlock rifle or pistol but the problem is in my country it's illegal so i have to make the mechanism all my own, an of course i need to find a nice barrel and make my own lead bullets so yeah thats going to be a very hard project
@TRCustomKnives7 жыл бұрын
If it's illegal, don't do it man! :D
@kerembilgen9237 жыл бұрын
yeah probably thats how it will end, but hey making knives and swords is not illegal :D
