I have never been a fan of oak, there are other hardwoods I like better. I like softwoods because there are easier to work with and finish. Yon can finish the roof any color that helps it fin the room. Nice fun project.

Totally agree! Oak has never been my favorite, but with wood at the prices it is, I salvage what I can and just happen to get my hands on a pile of this 1/2" oak. Thanks for watching!

Great idea and video. I'm not a fan of the colour. I agree with a painted roof would make the piece stand out a bit more.

Do the tissues pull out consistently? It seems that it is off centered from the tissue opening… If they work great, then I love the look of the box!!👍👍

They pull out pretty consistent unless you yank on them quick. Then sometimes they separate from each other.

I made mine from a cedar picket. Sadly i cannot get my hand in to feed the tissues. Think i made the chimney too tall.

You're not the first person that has said this would make a good Christmas project and I'm actually working on a similar design for Christmas. We'll see how it comes out!
