This is the first time I've ever heard the word "palimpsest" (9:59) used for something other than manuscripts...and you know what, it's perfect!

The ring pattern encoding is clever. Hello from Boston. Also thought you would be amused: my favorite unit of velocity is attoparsec per microfortnight. Works out very close to inches/second.

The last time I was in Boston, I made sure to go see the smoot marks on the Harvard Bridge!

Oh, cool, I didn't know you had a full on pull down staircase in the shop! This is such a great project.

lovely stuff! I'd also love to see a cheapest possible version using modern hardware

Thanks for sharing! I often think about an intercom without any voice transmission or ringing - just gentle electric shocks to overly loud recipients.

Cool project. You shouldn't have to strip cloth covered wire. The covering should just slide back from the conductor's end easily after cutting to length.

What an utterly redundant exercise in the 21st century¹, I absolutely love it. Happy new year and here's to many more _redundant_ exercises in 2025. ¹ Well, that is what Gen-whatever-the-hell-we-are-up-to would say, but ask yourself this, youngsters: how much modern technology will be functional in a century or so, even with new batteries?

I want you to know I have the Morrison phone that was at grandma and granddads house. Bop made it into a radio that doesn’t work very well but I’d love to send it to you if you’d like it. Let me know. Love you. Aunt Carol
