Excellent video, and your craftsmanship are amazing. The design and execution were really well done, and I am especially impressed with the engineering skills in developing such a clever mechanism for the upper box. My one negative comment is the fluctuating volume of your intermittent background music...it was quite annoying. Please do not take to the negative comment as detracting from your excellent work.

Hi, thanks for the kind words. You aren't the first to mention the volume lol. Learning Premier Pro is a lot harder than furniture making it turns out but I will certainly be spending some time on volumes. Thank you once again for view and comment

I made a writing slope two years ago, also as a gift. Mine was made from repurposed woods/pallets. Not quite as fancy pants as yours, but I like how it turned out. As did the recipient. Nice work on yours. I'm sure who ever received it will treasure it.

Stunning! Knowing you’re a Veritas addict - they make a hand jointer to attach your shoulder plane to, that would have been perfect for taking down those thin strips. I use mine so much. Love your attention to detail and the sheer mastery you displayed. Brilliant!
@WoodScrape2 жыл бұрын
My Veritas habit started with the medium shoulder plane and quickly escalated from there lol. I keep meaning to get (or make) the jointing fence you are talking about. It would definitely be safer lol

The only way to learn these skills is to get involved and have a go. I promise its just practice. I bet your skills are a lot better than you give yourself credit for. We are our own worst critics. I'm currently filming my first ever attempt at a Rising sun Dovetail. Probably going to be a bit of a mess but want to show that none of us get it prefect first time. Thanks for watching and your kind comments.

Awesome build, leather shouldn't ever need a backing for extra strength though, rigidity sure but leather is very wear resistant

Very interesting video and awesome build with loads of fine details 👍 No idea why YT algorithm didn't vector me to your channel any sooner... May I suggest a more balanced volume between the much appreciated voice over and the (not that much) background music ? All the best !
@WoodScrape Жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks for your views and comment. My channel finally seems to be algorithm friendly (for now). I don't think the algorithm gives my channel much notice as I don't regularly release videos due to health issues. You aren't the first to mention the volume lol. I'm getting better with PemPro but need to put more attention to the volume in future. Again, thanks for the views.

Awesome video, love the amount of detail in the explanations. Technical note, minor complaint - it's annoying to have to keep adjusting the volume between when you're speaking and when the music is playing. Going to look at your channel now to see if there's an explanation of some of the hand tools - one or two I'm not familiar with so thanks for giving me another rabbit hole to dive down. Off to watch the inlaid tool chest next.
