Nice video! Looks like you are using a gas lens and Furick 12 cup with a pedal. Just curious what your amp setting was and what diameter rod? Thank you.
@SWFabrication.2 жыл бұрын
Typically you'll set it at one amp for every .001 of material thickness. For example 1/8 or .125 would be 125 amps. Then you'd adjust accordingly. I'd start low, then work your way up. As for filler I use anywhere from. 030, 1/16 and 3/32. Your filler will be based on your fitment. The tighter the fitment the better weld.

I warped a couple flanges like that, had to start welding them clamped to their mate !! I also weld them inside to clean look and clean even on stainless
@floridasaltlife6 жыл бұрын
I take that back somewhat. I was rolling them around on edge !! yours were setting on a flat heat sink, may be a big difference. !!
@MonkeyFabGarage6 жыл бұрын
Doug Doty all stainless will warp a bit. It’s about heat control, speed vs amps where you direct the heat etc. I used to bolt them down too. Often still do but the other side of this flange is a t6 turbo

loving the videos Mike! I just got done watching your beginner tig series, it gave me the confidence to start attempting tig welding. Once i start work here in the next week, I'll be setting aside money to buy an AHP AlphaTig 200, which yes, i will be buying the tig starter kit from your website, which IMHO, is the best deal around. Thank you for the work you put into everything. One question I do have is, when should one know to use pulse? Basically looking at it from a beginner perspective of not having the experience to back them up. Oh also, just pulsing change any of the techniques up? or do you still continue to dab move dab move etc?

@@MonkeyFabGarage Awesome, thank you again for helping us less educated welding wanna be folks lol! I will check out the video. No problem, just wanted to let you know that I appreciate it and have a sense of the hard work that would go into everything and all the thought and time and consumables that is used to make the videos you do. As soon as I can get a welder and start practicing, I will be posting the pictures on my instagram to show the progress. With your permission (when it comes time) I will tag you in it as well to show others that if you can watch Monkey Fab's How To Tig video's you can go from 0 - 100 granted you put in the effort. Thanks again. Have a great day Mike (i hope its respectable that I address you that way or do you want to be addressed as Mr. Monkey Fab?) And thank you for your service as well! - Damen

AWESOME video! Learned something I didn't know here. I'll be calling you tomorrow Mike to order a collector and wastegate pipe and reducers
@neverlift63804 жыл бұрын
Pipe looked really nice! How do you scale some jobs to determine a price point for some work? I’m just getting stared with learning how tig and possibly wanting to get into messing with Stainless, Mild, and aluminum. I’m sure the charges change when welding stainless due to back purging but this didn’t know how to even begin to come up with a rate. From like amateur to full on experienced welder. Thank you in advanced for Any type of help/suggestions.
@MonkeyFabGarage4 жыл бұрын
Never Lift parts plus labor. No secrets. So that part would be like $40-60 for the bend. 60$ for the flange plus 3hrs labor $300 so like $400.

what size are those aluminum blocks you are using?they look handy for multiple uses
@MonkeyFabGarage4 жыл бұрын
I have many sizes. I usually just buy scrap blocks at the metal mart or eBay. They don’t need to be aluminum but seems to be pretty cheap. Also great for pulling heat out of metal.

mike I'm looking to do dual 3" to single 4" without using a 3"-4" reducer. would I do same as u did here just cut 1" off a U bend?
@MonkeyFabGarage6 жыл бұрын
no sir. its a bit more of a PIA than that sir. in theory, add 1/2" in the middle cut for each side and then you'll need to figure out how to make it round because it will look like a 8 so that will have to be rounded. the easy way would use a 3" just like i did and one of my 3-4 reducers.
