This was a very special project, and one that I'm super excited about! I'm making all natural breastmilk soap using my daughter's milk, for my Grandson. I'm using organic ingredients, clays, and Lavender essential oil, to make these extra gentle. Watch all the way to the end for pictures of my loves.
I love to create good for you, handcrafted soaps using the cold process method of soap making.
This video is intended for entertainment purposes. Any opinions or statements made are just my own, I'm not a health professional. I'm simply an artisan soap maker, inviting you to come along on my journey.

I have just convinced my grand daughter who will be having a baby in March to let me make her some breast milk soap. She thinks it a great idea. I am a total advocate of breast feeding. We were given this gift for a reason and that is give the very best nutrition to our babies. What better ingredient to add to the soap. Thank you for sharing. I hope your daughter loves this wonderful hand made gift.

Very beautifully done. I also nursed my four children and encourage all to do so. This has crossed my mind but this is the first time I have ever seen someone embark upon it. So proud of your bravery. Absolutely agree that I do not understand why everyone acts creeped out because it is all natural. God Bless You. 💖

Maybe different areas have different colours of clay as its a natural product, but I'm sure you've already thought of that. These look so pretty and I wish I was making soap when I finished breast feeding as I had many litres left frozen, I would thing they would be skin loving, gentle and so good for the skin. Thankyou for sharing Ellen

I'm so excited to do this when my lil girl is here. Breast milk is AMAZING for your skin and it has healing properties. I used to work with midwives and when my last wee one was born and had an eye infection they told me to just squirt some in her eye and it healed up so quick. I'd also give her a mini bath in it if she had a diaper rash. So I'm definitely looking forward to having some specialty mom's milk soap 😊

I'm currently breastfeeding my second . If you have a step by step video on how to make breastmilk soap or using something similar that would be awesome ! And a list of products your using especially the lye ! Since lye is used to preserve the milk and keep it from spoiling as fast . I havent found any videos on KZbin on how to prepare the lye for soap making with milk . Simple instructions and ingredients doesnt bother me !

So good for you and baby! I prepped the milk by freezing it in cubes, then add the lye very slowly (like a tablespoon at a time), so it doesn't overheat.

Depends on where you live, when it comes to the sale of Breastmilk. In the U.S., it's not regulated in terms of Sale. However I am in agreement with you, that I think it should only be a Custom Order (Breastmilk from the Mother made for their own Child). If the mother is not able to produce Milk, there are many Breastmilk Banks that are donated Breastmilk for Moms who cannot produce it that they can reach out to, and it would be by their own choice to use someone else's Breastmilk. That way you are protected from any form of backlash.

Hi! I love watching your videos! Came to this video as I want to make my own breast milk soap for my son. After doing some research, I found you shouldn’t use lye with breast milk because it breaks apart and ruins all the proteins. Don’t know if you know that or not. 🖤

Thank you. My daughter loves her special soap. Unfortunately, you can't make soap without lye...

Ellen Ruth Soap I thought you can get lye free?
@khione8044
@khione8044 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheBolnerFamily This is incorrect. All Soap is made from Lye. Even Commercial Soaps that you buy from the store, will be made from Lye. The reason that Lye is not mentioned on the Ingredients Label is because they list the End Ingredients (what is in the Soap after it has been Saponified and Cured), and not what was used to make it. When you mix the Lye and Oils together... Oils are Acidic on the pH Scale, and Lye is a Base. The lye will begin to break down when mixed with the Oils (this is called the Saponification Process) which changes the Molecular Structure of the Oils/Fats/Butters into a Salt that we know as Soap (there will be no lye remaining in the Soap once the Saponification Process has completed). Before we had access to Sodium Hydroxide (Lye), people would use Hardwood Ashes soaked in water to create a very strong Base that was just as Caustic. The water soaked ashes would leach out the Potassium in the wood, which could be used to make soap. However, this soap would be very soft and dissolve easily because it was Potassium Ashes (aka Potash). Which is similar to Potassium Hydroxide (which Soapmakers now use to make Liquid Soap). But I have gotten off topic a bit. Back on track... If you look at your Soap Label from a Bar of Soap sold in the stores, you will not see Lye specifically mentioned. However what you will find on the Ingredients Label is that most Ingredients begin with "Sodium _________" (such as Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Olivate, Sodium Palmate, Sodium Tallowate, etc...). This means that those Oils/Fats/Butters were Saponified with the use of Sodium Hydroxide (Lye).
@khione8044
@khione8044 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheBolnerFamily However you are correct that many benefits are destroyed by the Lye when made in Cold Process Soap. An alternative that can be done is Hot Process, where you cook the Soap to speed up the Saponification Process. So instead of taking up to 72 hours to Saponify (like in Cold Process) Hot Process Saponifies within about 30 minutes (on average, time can change depending on how much heat it was cooked at). Then the soap is allowed to cool down some, before adding in the Milk. This way it never reacts with the Lye, and proteins remains mostly intact in the soap after it has Evaporated.
@AspenGlow2027
@AspenGlow2027 2 жыл бұрын
I think the key is to add the lye while the breast milk is still frozen. It won’t get as hot and break down the protein as it would with slushy or thawed milk. I do this with my goat milk soap.
