How many coats of paint do you do? Less than repainting a shoe or same 4-6 coats? Great first attempt man, respect the work you put in!

Thank you! And yes, about 4-6 coats. Paint isn’t as durable as just choosing a coloured leather from the start though

Singers are inexpensive but not great with leather. Post bed sewing machines are much better for shoemaking but are usually $1K+. Pattern purchase link is in the description.

What sewing machine did you use for this? Im looking for a cobbler machine because the sewing machine I have now will not sew through the layers of leather due to me not skiing properly.

Singer 4411. All hand cranked though, motor is too quick for my liking

@@kazouellette Is the Singer any good? Ive heard some not awesome reviews about them because a lot of their machines are plastic.

It's fine for a starter machine, but awkward to maneuver at some points in the sewing process. Post-bed sewing machines are much more convenient for shoemaking but more expensive (Artisan, Techsew, Juki, Yamata, etc.)

Thanks! About 48 hours of work so about a week if you do 8 hours a day. You could save a lot of time if you have a post bed sewing machine, skiving machine, sidewall stitcher, hydraulic sole press, etc but those will run you a couple grand
