Omg yes! I thought I was misreading at first and it was just an old video that I’ve already watched numerous times. Without checking I’m pretty sure it’s been at least a year since we’ve seen Alec do a multi part Damascus weapon build series, and I’d guess that 90+% of us subscribers fell in love with his channel for exactly that. We’ve missed this so much and I’m so pumped to see how this turns out! Alec Steele is back!

now we're talking. this is the content that I subscribed for. the intermediary episodes of Alec making a padlock or a zippo were mildly interesting, sure, but they were basically him just making a copy of something that's already been designed and made. doesn't make for a very interesting project just seeing someone copy something. would've been more fascinating if it was more along the lines of other creators who take inspiration from existing designs but either add a personal flair to it or design something significantly different with the original as inspiration on how engineering/mechanical problems were solved.

Alec; as a woodworker and hobby luthier your tease of a Damascus guitar got me WAY too excited. You should collaborate with a woodworking channel to make a functioning guitar! Not usually one to say things were better in the old days... But with projects like this I like to be part of the journey. I'm not a big fan of that "here's something we prepared earlier". But on the other hand we've already been on this journey with you during earlier builds and we get that it's now just a tedious process. You made a really nice design and I can't wait to see the result!

This is really close to a historical/fantasy build with a decent obscure webcomic tie-in that I've always wanted to see made. The Pata is an extension of the Katar idea, in that it is sword-length and also originated from India. The punch-style grip is integrated into a protective gauntlet and most types used a double-edged sword blade. In the webcomic Girl Genius, the character Zeetha (who is a warrior princess but not THE Warrior Princess) sports a matched pair of pata, one of which has a forked blade that can be used as a sword-breaker. Since they are called the Twin Blades of Destruction, it sort of suggests its own thumbnail.
