It's much much harder to build a missile for a fast-moving target. The missile above is a "homing missile" ie it points itself at the target. A missile for a moving target on the other hand, uses the target's trajectory "to predict" where its target will be when it gets there.

You need PID formula in your controller to get real accuracy. Proportion Integral and Differential. Also try to use 10 оr better 50-100W IR diode with old mirror camera lens to make aiming device. Point it on the target, adjust focus and get your missile just into the center of IR spot.

Novi S you don't really need a PID to improve accuracy. There are two main problems that inhibit accuracy. The first is seeker field of view, which would be on the order of ~100 degrees in this setup, with little signal discrimination available for the inner region. The easiest two solutions to this would be implementation of an automatic gain control circuit and focusing optics coupled. Next of course you have the issue of pure pursuit guidance requiring unattainable amounts of acceleration in the final stages of terminal. Mounting the seeker of a wind stabilized nose and correcting would align the missile velocity vector and not forward vector with the target. PID could of course be considered, but many remarkably successful missiles use no PID controls whatsoever and function flawlessly at far higher velocities and accelerations.

not really, the thrusters of jets have specific dimensions which the missiles can compare to its target and lock onto the target if it resembles a jet thruster.
