It's a valid starter piece yet it's good for overall digital interaction from DAW to interface. Although I'm not Jeff, I can add on with what I know to help.

DJPolarity answered your question well. It’s got the basics of what you want and need in a controller. A couple more, or hell even just one more knob would be nice though to expand what you can map it to. Also tbh I was kind of hoping it would be compatible with iOS using a camera card adapter, but it didn’t work. It’s fine for PC or Mac tho. And it’s kind of neat you can use it as a stand-alone keyboard too, with several synth and drum presets, a speaker+ 3.5 mm line out built in.

I have been a Jazzy Jeff Fan since a friend gave me a mix tape and I mean a actual mix tape that he made in his room. 33 years ago. this was like sitting next to the master while he worked.
