Hello and welcome to a new Resttore devlog. Today I'll try to create the first system for my game: The Inventory, completely made in UE5 using only blueprints. It's my first time coding so I'm sure the code is not very good, but is good enough for now.

This can't have come at a better time. I thought I was going crazy trying to figure out inventory systems...but in multiplayer. Looks good so far! And yes....spaghetti may be wrong but if it works, cross your fingers and hope it doesn't break down the line.

I love how everyone using blueprints say they have "no coding experience" when blueprints are literal code and works the same way. If you understand blueprints you somewhat understand the code aswell

Just a little tip: add an ID property to your inventory item so you have a unique identifier. It makes it easier to compare objects.

All the objects in the DataTable already have an unique ID

wonderful video!!!! ❤ one thing that you can add to this inventory system is a backpack that if you put it on the hotbar it gives move slots so that the player has more space as they progress through the game

Advice: figure out and test a gameplay loop and make sure it's fun, or your amazing art and coded systems would be all for nothing! I am not sure if you've planned such thing already or not, but what i am sure of is that you are good at what you do and can't wait to see where this project goes!

Yes, I have already figured out the gameplay loop, but before implementing it I need some basic systems like inventory, combat and others. I'm working on laying the foundations first. Thanks for the advice and I'm glad to have you on board.

The object picking and inventory looks great, Though I’d prefer if the item didn’t have a frame when moving the items around in the inventory or they have a low opacity when moving the object around

Very good,im learning a lot with your videos..i will do an inventory as well..well you can have something like on unreal engine project alredy done but it is a mess to understand..so better do yours yourself,right? I want to make something like zelda botw but i want something like TLOU where joel get his backpack...that animation to open inventory is amazing. i felt the same about how you felt finding no solutions, i am about 4 years trying to make me game but i will never surrender because when i say i cant, i stop,after weeks,months something always call me back, and i want it. so today after many things happened i decided never surrender,take time,stop 1 or 2 days to breath, get courses and packs of stuff on markets and keep going, the main purpose is learn and make an game that has everything i want on a game and acomplish my dream: make an video game title

How about evolution of weapons when you put 2 items together in the inventory. If an item has some power stats and another item has magic stats Then the combined item will have improved strength and magic skill It will be nice to have that feature
