New Yorkshire Workshop

5 ай бұрын

Well, half way through working on the kitchen and the boss decided the window isn't big enough so I had go off and make a new one! She decided it would be a 'picture frame' window without any openings because the extra framework blocks out the light! It's best to just do it, peaceful life and all that. I went into quite a bit of detail on this one. Enjoy!
I have been posting regular updates on this patreon thing- / newyorkshireworkshop

With how much metal fabrication I've been into lately, I've been more afraid of injury from the workpiece rather than the tools.. What really impresses me is how calm and composed you are throughout. I redecorated our hallway in an Edwardian house recently and when I went to repair some cracks, a whole wall of plaster just came off 😮 I was left with a brick wall. I panicked like hell and ended up dot and dabbing some plasterboard over the top and skimming it myself but I was a bag of nerves throughout and constantly questioning what I’m doing. You’re a master of all trades and I wish I had an ounce of your confidence.

Great video. A safety reminder is always good. Thats why they have toolbox safety meetings at work every day. When I was in college, I was a framing carpenter. One day it was late in the afternoon and we were trying to finish this house and I was ripping a 2x4 down the middle on a 45 bevel to add dead wood to a bay window. I was rushing and didn’t nail it down to the saw horses as usual and instead held it in my hand and proceeded to cut the fingerprint pads off of two of my fingers. You could see the bone on those two fingers as the pads were gone. Thankfully the fingers were still “full length” but the injury was super painful and took months for my pads to grow back.
