Heard you guys talking about Sue - Sue is named after Susan [Sue] Hendrickson, who first found the specimen. This is generally how specimens get their informal names. Examples: Stan, Tristan, Sampson, Scotty, Jane... Though some get names based on other things like Peck's Rex [aka The Nation's T. rex], which was found by the Fort Peck Reservoir, and Black Beauty, which was named for the beautiful obsidian color of the bones.

As an Aussie who has watched many a Bathurst race, my fave part is always when a roo bounces out onto the track and gets launched by the front end of a car whose driver hadn't seen them. It's about as Aussie as driving gets, so it's appropriate that it happens in races held here too.
