What's so important about the last step of cutting the medical tape to expose the fishing weight ends? Why not leave them covered so there is more protection from the ends if/when you hit yourself?

You can use a light decorative chain like from Lowe's or Home Depot.

It's actually Miserlou by my friend's band. It's a Greek song, but lots of Greek and Armenian songs are very similar. I'll have to check Anush Yar out!

The poi base has to be a certain weight or it won't spin correctly. The reason for the ball is that this enables the veil to be put on and taken off easily without much trouble. This is just one design; if you can do it another way and have it spin correctly, then great! Good luck and happy spinning!
