LOL at the intro. I’m a musician who plays all of the parts & I respect the heck out of the genius use of samples. I’m trying to acclimate myself to it, but it really is a whole skill. I understand the argument some people who’ve taken time to learn an instrument make, but I would never dismiss a sample based producer.

I agree sampling is a skill. I to am a musician, but over the years I have adapted to making music with any and everything. I love learning from dj’s they started the hip hop movement. A lot of the sound we grew up listening to was made by dj’s. I love playing in instruments as well because I’m impatient I lack the patience to listen to thousands of hours of recordings to find the right bass line or that keyboard melody that adds fire to the beat you are working on. Learning an instrument has improved my ear training skills as I can now work with harmonic elements that don’t really have melodic elements and blend them in to something musical to make something new.

Only met one person who could play the drums like a god, guitar, bass, keys, sing harmonies and can write killer lyrics. He made incredible electronic music until he passed away at a young age of 55. I can only recommend the MPC Key 61, you can create your own band inside that machine with all the different instruments. Just mimic the sample best you can with the sounds available. You can play the instruments or farm that out to other MPC headz..my secret is lots of reverse n delay.
