Buddy I like your videos. These guys want to jump on here and bash you. Is crazy. Man first net was nylon. Had for probably 15 years, caught so many fish, right beside people with mono nets. Would still have it today if not stolen by some low life. Man who made past away. Ended getting mono made by local guy, everyone talked how good they were. First time throwing over some "" jarhead" , that big roe mullet, they went right through it. Had to take back for repair. Never had that happen with nylon. So anyway, now older and more time on my hands. By yours, and others videos, I'm making nylon nets. I thank your for your insight and inspiration. Thank you. And remember opinions are like buttholes , everyone has one. And they all stink. Some worse than others. Keep the tradition alive..

thanks for the tip- ive laying them flat on the grass to do them which requires nice flat grass and dry sunny days and i have to fishish it once i got it setup . this solved my long time question a lot.

I have been making and using cast nets for 50+ years. There are a few things to consider. A well made monofilament cast net has these advantages. It sinks faster, absorbs less water, is faster to make and requires less maintenance than a traditional nylon net. My go to net is a 12 foot radius mono net. I have hand knitted nets I have made but the mono panel net beats them. I am not talking about cheap mono nets sold most places. Sinking rates depend on material used, mesh size and amount of lead per radius foot. The best lead line I have found is the combination lead line from Brunson net supply. It is stiffer and very low stretch. You should order some and try it.

No need to order a net, if you watched the vids you already know I make my own. I have Nets I made from age 12 and if you can say the same then ok but I already know you can’t. You can’t sell me on your opinion when I already know a nylon net will last a lifetime if taken care of. Mono type nets are disposable because almost no one can patch or repair them. Nylon is easy, treatable, repairable and can take a lot more abuse. Opinions are opinions, there is no “best”. My vids are here for those to learn how to make them. Post up some vids so we can watch them and let us formulate our own opinion. Don’t forget to show in the vid, your oldest net..........

@@equipyourselflifeskills5802 I am amazed that you're offended so easily. Robert is dead on with the mono nets. I too have been building and throwing nets for 50 years and mono nets will outfish nylon nets three to one. I don't care if a net lasts forever if it won't catch fish. As far as being disposable, I've got nets that I fish hard catching mullet and Gulf menhaden and every year have sharks blow them up and they are easy to repair and tangle way less than nylon nets. Don't get your panties or your nets in a wad, throw what the pros throw.

I wasn't talking about ordering a net. I was talking about the lead line. I'm not trying to argue with you. My oldest net will be one I knitted. But it never gets used. The mono nets outfish them. They are also easy to repair. If it does need to be replaced it takes much less time to make.

The way you whipped the brail lines for the swivel, you could do it like the serving on the knock ends of a bow string and it would be seamless like a bow string. Just suggestion of something to do for strength and aesthetics.

Rather than the first set of whipping going through the swivel, have you ever considered ringbolt hitching?

The whipping on the eye of the braille lines is the same for making a bow string.
