Beautiful! I am new to ceramics and would love to learn how to make jewelry from start to finish. I have no knowledge on the types of clay to use, glazing processes and kilns. And, how are the designs painted on and what type of paint is used? I started using polymer clay and I hate it! I make hand painted wood earrings. Thank you very much!

Hey sherry! That’s cool you make wood earrings and are learning clay now. I felt the same about polymer honestly - it was so tricky!
@sherryelmore554610 ай бұрын
@@FionaCArt well painting wood and doing decoupage is more difficult than one thinks! As far as ceramics, they are just more beautiful and have the glowing shine that many polymer clay artists try to duplicate with little success. I can tell the difference!

Hello. Your ceramics is very beautiful. I was wondering how your earrings lay on a kiln? Because in mugs we should leave bottom of the mug without glaze, but earrings are with glaze in both sides. So how I should put them in kiln? :) Thank you
@FionaCArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Vita :) thank you for the kind words and for watching! Good observation about the double sided! We use what my mum calls a “chuck”, which she made herself. It’s basically a form where you can hang the earrings off of it using high fire wire. We also use it to fire our ornaments for the holidays and such so they don’t touch the kiln. Hope that helps :)

hello! I greet you from Mexico, I just discovered your account and I am mesmerized watching how you create your beautiful pieces, wow congratulations! One question, what is the name of the metal that you put on the pendant? And how many times did you put the pieces in the fire? THANK YOU

Thank you, Adriana :) For the metal I use this high fire wire: amzn.to/3U0KyUZ And I fire everything twice: a bisque fire and a glaze fire 🔥 Hope this helps! 💕

May I ask, which kind of wire are you using to the jewelry? I asked in a ceramic shop where I live and she said some would drill a hole and glue it on. But I really like you are just putting it in the clay and then into the kiln?

How do the earring pieces get fired? Are they hanging from a stand in the kiln or laid flat?
@FionaCArt7 ай бұрын
Yes we hang them from a stand (we made it ourselves). You can lay them flat but you’d have to be careful to only glaze one side.
@jasperl15315 ай бұрын
question: how sturdy would these be do you think if you pulled on them/put some tension on them? and do you know if you can flatten the wire at all?
@FionaCArt5 ай бұрын
It’s a good question. I mean - nobody has told me any of the earrings have come apart yet so I suppose that’s a good sign they have take some tension :) If you mean the wire that goes into the clay - you can do whatever you want. I usually make the earrings a bit thicker and put the clay in deeper nowadays so it’s flatter
