@@MiriamFollin I want to buy a camera lens via your links. Could you tell me when you use the Sony 50mm and when you use the Sigma 16mm? I have a Sony A7iii camera.
@MiriamFollin
@MiriamFollin 5 жыл бұрын
@@WEBFundamental Oh wow, that would be so nice of you! I have put the time stamps below for the first 1 minute and 42 seconds of this video and written where the changes are between the lenses. There is a long sequence where I only use the Sony 50mm at 00:34 - 1:40 . Personally I do prefer the 50mm, but I use the 16mm when I need more space, since the 50mm is really zoomed in. But isn't the A7iii full frame? Then you might not have the problem of being too zoomed in, at least not to the same degree. The 16 mm works well for landscapes, in small spaces where I still want to show off the setting, and for "selfie mode" haha. If you buy one, please let me know which one and what you think! See the time stamps below: 00:00 Sigma 16mm 00:06 Sony 50mm 00:17 Sigma 16mm 00:23 Sony 50mm 00:25 Sigma 16mm 00:29 Sony 50mm 00:31 Sigma 16mm 00:34 Sony 50mm 1:41Sigma 16mm 1:42 Sony 50 mm

I grew up in a military family, moving every 3 years. You treasure friendships fiercely, absorb all of the cultures and countries, and I think it makes you a more empathetic and resilient person. You realize that people all across the world have the same needs & wants for their homes and families. When people ask me where I’m from, I tell them it’s complicated, haha! It gave me a sense of wanderlust and I deeply love to travel. My husband & I lived in Guangzhou for 3 years (as expats), and my son was born in Hong Kong. I love your videos and they remind me of the wonderful memories we made in China & travelling in Asia. All the best to you and your beautiful family. ❤️

The English Buddhist monk Ajahn Brahm, who lives in Perth, offered an interesting perspective, but from the other angle. He said, "Anywhere you don't want to be is your prison." It applies to jobs, relationships, whatever. To paraphrase Ajahn Brahm, "Home is where you feel safe and comfortable, where you want to return to." If you watch Miriam's New Year dinner with the happy and loving family, it's clear where her home is at this time.

I tried to express this feeling in my vlogs, but I wasn't as good as you. I am really impressed about your authentic filming and story telling skills. You have inspired me deeply. I haven't really put so much thought about how to get patrons, and I bet this is the most genuine way of expressing your appreciation for your fans. Good job! I’m struggling at time that I should call USA is my home or not. I got married and moved here 12 years ago but sometimes I miss Cambodia, where I was born and grown up. Last time I went to Cambodia in October, I felt like I do not belong there any more. I feel the gap; it’s hard to explain how it feels like. My grandfather passed away in October last year so I accompanied my parents to Cambodia for his funeral. I felt so helpless as I don’t know much about what to do and how things are done. I wanted to be helpful and be part of the whole process. When I got back to the US, I have this feeling that make me question myself where do I belong, where do I feel like home. What is definition for Home to me is still not clear. I miss my family back home, the foods and places that I used to go. My parents are living here with us now but I still have a younger brother that still live in Cambodia. Maybe when he finally gets to live here with us, I’ll feel at peace and able to find a place that I called home.

I've lived in the same country all my life, but I relate to this in many ways. When my parents decided to move to another city with the rest of the family, I decided to stay behind to pursue my studies. I was in my hometown, yet it felt foreign, because my living amenities weren't the same, the neighborhood wasn't the same, the people weren't the same and my routine wasn't the same. I'd go back to the place I called home all my life, but there were other people living there, and they had changed up the place in many ways. It felt foreign too. I'd go and see my family in their new house, and though the people were familiar, they too had changed, and things weren't quite the same. It felt foreign. I felt foreign. Every other place I live in, work at, study at, it all feels so familiar and so foreign in so many ways. And although it all sounds pessimistic when we put forward these feelings, I think it's also just a part of growing up, and can be a good experience. I think everyone will, to different degrees, as they grow up and out of the nest that cuddled them for all these years, get to a point where something that was home for most of their life starts feeling foreign, distant, even if just distant in time. Yet, nothing has been able to fully become home either. With a foot through each door, and unable to pull through to either side, we have to come to the realisation that as adult we are not defined fully by a single thing, but partially by many things. Spread out over the map of blurry lines that is our life, we have to accept that things evolve, and that we have evolved to be the person who has lived here and there, and not just the person who came from there. It can feel wholesome to identify fully with a single thing, but identifying with many things is rich in its own ways. You may have a feet through each door - Cambodia and the USA, but that is not a weakness. You can keep the doors open for exchange, and act as a bridge between the people from both of your homes . Sending hope that you are able to reunite with your brother soon! 🙂❤️

Oh, I will take your recommendation for sure (just found it online)! Would be nice to sit down and watch a movie, I haven't done that in ages! Thank you!

Glad to see your videos and your happy family life in China! Coincidently, I was in Sweden last year and now I am living beside Sweden. I want to share with you a piece of poem talking about home feeling by Sushi. Yonghong can translate for you. Whish you Happy Lunar New Year!

Miriam, your husband has great calligraphy. Is she becoming a Eastern medicine doctor yet? Finally, your essay is so much Jane Austen’s in the 21st Century.

Thank you so much, I'm so happy to hear that! I shoot and edit myself, but my husband helps to film me sometimes, you can see when, since I will be in the shot and the camera will be moving!
