You really are a remarkable person. Probably TMI but there’s a point to my rambling - I’m currently watching you from my in-home hospital bed where I spend most of my time. I am terminally ill with an incurable lung disease that has taken away most of my mobility due to breathlessness/low oxygen. But watching you as you prepare, harvest, cook, and take care of your family - it lets me sort of live vicariously through you and allows me to temporarily leave this bed behind and enjoy being in a bright and beautiful kitchen again, cooking from scratch (as I so loved to do). It’s interesting too because I do many things in the kitchen the same way you do. Well I used to anyway. Lol When you’re out in the garden beds I can almost smell the pungency of the tomato plants and earthiness of the soil. Amazing. Please enjoy every one of these moments to the fullest. Feel the pride in all the amazing things you accomplish fully and wholly and never take any of this for granted. Thank you for allowing all of us this glimpse of your homestead and your life - truly. ❤

@@jeanninemcwhorter919I'll try and answer your questions for you but I suggest you go back and watch her past videos to see where she started to where she is today. She films herself and when you see her from afar she sets up the camera. No she didn't own a restaurant. Her journey is fascinating as she is so honest and shows what goes right and the things that she will change next time. She is Brilliant and so positive. Have fun watching her videos.

@@jeanninemcwhorter919 I don’t know Becky personally, but I’ve been watching since she had around 5K subscribers. She’s talked about your questions in the past, so I thought I could give you a few answers. Basically, she was a dental technician before she became a full time KZbinr. She has never owned a restaurant or worked in the food industry, she is a home cook with a serious passion for local food and gardening. Before she had land she could garden on she used to be a member of various CSA’s and she’d buy bulk amounts to can from local farmers and farmers markets. Before she learned to can she froze a bunch of stuff. Basically you’re seeing the product of over a decade of consistent and deliberate skill building when it comes to cooking, preserving, and more recently gardening. Pretty neat!

I just found your channel about 6 mos ago, and I just want to say what a joy it has been to me. I'm always saddened when it comes to an end....sometimes I rewatch the same video...sometimes I watch one that I have seen and sometimes I try to find an older one that I haven't seen. I like that your husband is in your videos some, but what I like most is that you don't expose your child to the world. I think we all should have some privacy in our lives. I would like for you though to one day, show us your dog food recipes. I think that would make a good video that lots of ppl would really be interested in seeing.

@@cookiebutler-l3e In one of her sit down Q&A videos Becky said she and Josh made the decision to keep their son off the channel to preserve his privacy. She has also stated she will never put anyone on who doesn't want to be. Her parents are in quite a few videos as is her MIL, her sisters and a sis-in-law have been in a couple. Josh is uncomfortable being in front of the camera which is why he does a lot of taste tests off camera, though he is getting better. She has a brother we've never seen and she has never shown any of the nieces or nephews. I'm sure some of that is for safety as well as privacy, which just makes sense these days. Hope this helps.

Cookiebutler, she said when she had her son that she would be keeping him and his life private because she not comfortable sharing about children online. He is nearly 2 now, I believe, so won't be eating a ton yet and she usually says Josh or "my family" by way of meaning them and their son. Also, the adults she has mentioned have been in some videos in the past. Her parents frequently appear in videos, and her MIL and one of her sisters have also done videos. Some of them even have their own KZbin channels.

Becky, every time you walk by your beautiful rhubarb bed I wonder if you ever freeze any of it? We used to grow rhubarb in our small garden and I discovered that it freezes beautifully. I make strawberry rhubarb pies, fresh rhubarb cake, rhubarb sauce, etc. if you and your family love rhubarb, you can have it available all year if you freeze it now. You had a beautiful garden and harvest this season!

If you want to, you could cover the beds with straw (local unsprayed) or leaves and let that be your weed barrier, and then you can just pull it off in spring and compost it, or pull it aside for each planting hole or row and amend each hole or row. But I think you’re using landscape fabric because you have it! I just wanted to give you an idea ❤️ Happy harvesting!

Hi. Becky, I know you’ve had a ton of green beans. I thought you might like this recipe . Either roast or steam your beans. In a bowl mix the following, cherry tomatoes, garlic, Panko. Crumbs, parsley, and Parmesan cheese, S+P, with some good olive oil. When beans are done Lay on platter. Add the mix across hot beans. In the middle. Serve right away. The veggie mix on the beans is yummy. I’ve used this mix on asparagus and zucchini too. This “ recipe “isn’t really one as no amounts are given, but also not needed. I hope you try it anyway.
