Is there an in-depth step-by-step tutorial anywhere for a sand material like this? I tried following along and looking at the images linked but it's all greek to me, and half the nodes shown I can't find like the Mask (R) one for example. I really want a sand system like this, and I really want to learn the skills needed, but this video doesn't teach me anything, it feels targeted towards industry veterans. I really want to learn this, any tutorial/course links would be greatly appreciated.

One small thing: if you are open to some feedback, I think it would look nicer if the sand particle effect coming from the feet was more subtle. Just tone it down a little bit so it's not as splashy. One thing I noticed that I thought might help in the overall look of your game :) looks so good though keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!

Great man. I need this for a vehicle. This version of trail with RVT i suitable for tyre or is more computational than spawn directly some sphere from the bottom of the tyre for displacing the terrain ? 🙏
@dotplusplusplus3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I understand the "sphere approach", but yes the RVT trail it would work with tyres :) I'd probably do some more optimization to have an adaptive spawn frequency (if you are going straight you dont need to spawn on every tyre), and depending on the vehicle's speed you could spawn bigger stamps/quads to take less performance :) Don"t hesitate to message me again I'd love to see your results

The main takeaway you can get from this video (that I tried to incorporate at least) is that it's just a bunch of small stuff put together. Just choose one thing, like the grainy normals, or the slope direction, and build from there. The best part about this process is that every small improvement you make is a reward in itself. And if you feel stuck come around on discord and people will happily help you :)

Maybe make the videos not so short and more indepth ? For beginners for example u can make a video from scratch on how u create this sand effect it's very useful and not alot of tutorials out there for this kind, only talking about the steps won't help beginners so i assume this video isn't for beginners
