1000kg would be epic - presumably converting to FWD to get there but with the benefits of retaining the IRS? Track car plan makes perfect sense. Engine/turbo setup aside as there are so many options, focussing on handling mods and setup would make for a really interesting build. One I've considered doing myself for YT, but I think I'll stay behind the lens and leave it to you ;)

Top idea, saves me from doing it. One of the most fun cars I had was an old E34 BMW that I stripped to the bare bones. That's all I did. It was awesome! I removed about 10kg of excess wiring alone!

I had a similar conversation with Dom a while back, putting a built engine in, costs more than you get out of it fun wise, find a decent stock engine, put that in it, but get the rest of the car setup right, suspension, brakes etc, then if it blows up, its a simple engine swap rather than pissing about with rods n pistons n all that stuff, maybe even find something else in the Audi range that has a decent lump and stick that in it perhaps?

Got a mk1 tt on the way. So new subscriber 😊, But the remote central locking won’t work and when you try to lock it manually the alarm goes off. So car can’t be secured. Appreciate any ideas / direction to take ?

Need to check that it’s seeing all the inputs to the ccm, things like bonnet switch, boot switch and doors, roof in its a convertible. Is there 2 keys?

@@BWSTT I’m a week away from seeing it in person as it’s not local to me. But your reply makes a lot of sence that it can’t see all the micro switches secure so won’t go any further. Thanks for your quick reply and will let you know the outcome.

Weld the front diff up, lose the drive shafts and fit an open haldex controller to lock the haldex on permanent. Not sure what the handling would be like with all the weight of the engine in front of the front axel and no drive to the front wheels.

I would put a longitudinal Audi or cayenne turbo v8 with the radiator in the back and AWD with rear bias.
